Actually i think 'Hardware' was quite funny, and that was a late night sitcom on ITV only a year or so back with Martin Freeman, Peter Serefenowitz (or however the hell its spelt) and Reg Holdsworth off corrie. I found that really funny actually.

yes, we're talking about sitcoms. there is some good comedy on ITV, including Harry Hill, Dame Edna and Al Murray, but no sitcoms

Hardware is the perfect example of why theres been no ITV comedy, it was funny although not comic genius but got bashed round the schedules like a nail or some better DIY related pun depending on the latest review, meaning it had no chance to get the audience gripped. Do I remember the last few episodes being nailed together back-to-back to clear the schedules? Hardly a formula for comedy success.

Anyway, moving along, when WAS the last time ITV gave us a decent sitcom that is still remembered today?

When was the last sitcom on any channel that will be remembered in 15 years? Anything at all this decade?

The Office, Phoenix Nights, The Thick of It, Extras, Kombat Opera.

Ok they don't have canned laughter but they'll be remembered for a long time.
