Steve Punt?

Think the reference is to The One Show - though it is hardly a flop...

It is regarded as a pretty huge success within the BBC (and ITV have already tried to poach its editor, and both presenters, in an attempt to reduce the impact it is having on Emmerdale)

Quick question... on those caps I posted, which bit of the building is the East Tower?

It's the tower near the railway on the left of the photo.

Just occurred to me that it's to the south of TV Centre so wondering why is it called the East Tower?

I'm not sure of the answer to that, but this page is very good for TVC history - makes a good read - http://www.tvstudiohistory.co.uk/tv%20centre%20history.htm

The gig's finally up on iPlayer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/b00cfsbf.shtml

Ironically, the highlight of the gig was the stripped down version of Yellow- it was the best framed and produced section of the concert....featuring no grand identi-kit stage, helicopter shots or wide-shots of 60s architecture.

I think the BBC should do more of these gigs. That Coldplay one was just superb.

I'm sure the bands wouldn't mind getting an extra bit of plugging...

ISTR they did Beyonce at the BBC some time last year.

I don't mind the BBC One Sessions when they're on too.

They had the Chilli Peppers too of course, a little while ago.

Although I thought the start was a bit rubbish - the in vision Jo Whiley seemed silly (could/should have been a simple voice over) as when she finished it seemed lack lustre - I thought the concert was great.

Was the U2 performance for TOTP the first example of a such a performance on stage outside TVC?

Think East Tower may be named because it is on the bit of the TVC site called "East Hill". There is also a "West Hill" I think?
