Waters and Allen always get sidelined whenever something momentous happens, basically because they're experienced.
When something big happens CNN has the amazing talent to sideline all of its well known presenters are replace them with unknowns like Aaron Brown and Paula Zahn.
It's a strange way of making CNN look more focused and 'driven' with their 'wealth of new talent' and 'fast paced' programming.
CNN International, on the other hand, manages to employ presenters who are seemingly half asleep. Zain Vergee manages to make herself look half asleep and takes about 3 minutes to think of what to say next. This got so bad that it left on guest on the Q&A programme saying 'hello? Hello, can you hear me?' after Zain was trying to think of what to say.
Christianne Amanpour is just as bad, she never seems to know what she's talking about and has to ask so many questions to make sure that she understands, not the viewers. Whenever you see Christianne doing an interview you know it's for her benefit and not the viewer's.

Yeah, Natalie Allen - wasn't really paying attention…
I know they usually bring in the 'big shots' during major news, but things have calmed down and they've gone back to using the 'CNN LIve Today' titles occasionally -- and there is no sight of them……
BTW, off topic, but since this is the current Americanish TV thread - in my pursuit for pics of MSNBC studios I found some very neat ones……
This is the 'weatherwall' -- it changed it's view based on the time (night/day) - sadly, it was taken down a year ago to make room for an ill-designed new studio-alcove:

BTW Dan Rather of CBS has been presenting the Evening News from Kabul and I heard a report yesterday that Tom Brokaw (NBC) has asked for permission from the Pentagon to join troops on the front lines -- I don't know if that'll happen……
Does anyone know what's happened to Lou Water and Natalie Adams? I haven't seen them since the 11th - were they sacked? It's kinda weird that Paula and Aaron pretty much took over their airwaves in the last few months. They were on almost all day.
Natalie is still at CNN -- you'll see her anchoring some off hour segments; it wouldn't surprise me if she ended up doing Talkback Live once in a while. Lou left right after 9/11 (it was announced the day before) for a media consulting firm here in Metro Atlanta.

Ah, thanks for the info. That's kinda surprising Lou left hasn't he been with CNN from the beginning? -- Natalie subbed for Batista a few times when she was gone, right? I haven't really been able to watch CNN during the day because of school anyway……
Another question, is Miles O'Brien no longer on Headline News - I know he does some things with Paula Zahn, or at least the last time I was able to watch it he was there. I know Stephen Frasier is on HLN now…
Alek, you're right in thinking Lou has been there since the start of CNN. Very surprised to hear that he's left.
The MSNBC studio is amazing, god knows how much that cost. It's such a fantastic looking place. Do they still walk around because now we can watch MSNBC over here I've only ever noticed them sitting at the desk. Seems a shame to waste such a great studio.
As much as I loathe American news, the networks over there certainly know how to build a fantastic looking studio. At the moment the best studio we've got it Sky's, and whilst that's a bloody good studio it's not quite in the same league as MSNBC's, which I think is the largest newsroom/studio area in the world.

The presenters don't walk around as much anymore -- I guess because of the more sombre mood they're using the main newsdesk more. But they do kind of walk and stand up around their 'map area' They've also launched some new very good promos with Brian Williams, Ashleigh Banfield, and a generic channel promo with the tag line, 'The Leader in Cable News' (which is technically bs). Now all they need is a relaunch of their HORRIBLE graphics. They make me shudder.
Does anyone have any screengrabs of the new CNN London studio? You can't see much of it on CNN's website's video report. Also, has anyone heard of any revamp at CNNI's Atlanta studio? God knows they need that. It was nice to hear in the report that CNNI would be getting a relaunch soon.

Ya, Natalie has subbed for Bobbi in the past (along with half the rest of the planet for that matter). Miles is back on the CNN side at this point. The original plan was for him to do double duty, since he's still their lead science correspondent, but with everything that's been happening, he's doing some anchoring on CNN as well. Stephen Frazier slid into his prime time slot with Andrea Thompson on Headline News, and everyone (from what I've heard) is pretty pleased with that pairing. I'm not sure if it's permanent or not though.
