CNBC Europe seem to have been in their temporary studio for absolutely ages - definitely longer than Sky News (who have supposedly been doing some pretty major building work). Is a new set imminent? Will it happen next Monday (August 6th)? Does anyone actually care?
I wonder how big the NBC logos will be on the new set?! Mind you, it's possible that they've been forced to 'downsize', so are now broadcasting from a portacabin in Brixton, and that dodgy temp set is here to stay...

CNBC Europe moved into their temp set a the weekend Sky did.
There is work going on in the newsroom to my knowledge, and I'll definatly put a call through to my contact at CNBC tomorrow morning first thing to find out what's going on for you all.

Considering that there must be work going on in the newsroom, it must also be affecting the Markets Desk as well.
I would guess that has been moved as well, because you are not hearing any background noise from the newsroom, just the noise generated from the computers used by the presenters at the desk.
Let's all hope that all the work being done on the new set is worth the wait...

The markets desk is in the same location, the background boards have been moved to seal the desks from the newsroom. The only piece of set that has moved is the actual production studio, the control room is the same, and so is the production galleries.

Interesting to know that the markets desk is still in the same location, but with the boards moved to seal the desk from the newsroom. I would guess that the camera positions have been moved as well.
I also understand that the 'make-up' room used by the presenters has also been affected by the building work, as I remember watching 'Europe Squark Box' one morning recently and heard Simon Hobbs and Guy Johnson making remarks about presenter Geoff Cutmore trying to locate a hair dryer to blow dry his hair.

The presenters prepare their own makeup, especially the market reporters who do it on set.
The camera angles have not changed, but the zoom levels have...
everything around the markets desk remains the same, nothing else has changed in the building.... just the actual set...

I am a regular viewer of CNBC and like their coverage. But has anyone else noticed the channel has become very studio based. They used to have more video news stories and reports, now they just have everyone in the studio or on a fixed camera. I feel it makes the proramming very clostaphobic as you don`t get to see the outside world.
They used to have some very good reporters, doing interesting reports who we don`t see any more. Reporters have been promoted/moved to reporting from Stock Exchanges.
They now devote too much time to annalists who just hype their own stocks and talk down the ones they want to buy. I think they should cut back on this and go back to giving good un-biased information in the form of reports.
Did they get a new set this morning? I'm in London all week with no access to satellite TV (apart from News 24 which is on in the office I'm working in)
Blimey - they're taking ages, aren't they! I remember catching the last few seconds of a trailer last week that said something about expanded European market coverage starting late August (I think). Has anyone else seen this? I'd guess the relaunch will now coincide with this.
