Another thing is it definiviely puts all of Star Wars under the same roof, as Fox own the rights to the first film in perpetuity. I wonder if we'll finally get a proper release of the original versions, or does that still have to wait until George Lucas is dead?

Also means Marvel has got the movie rights to all of their characters now. X-Men, Deadpool,. Fantastic Four.

Apparently the Fantastic 4 rights aren't held by Fox, instead by Constantin Film

Disney themselves have said they'll have the rights when the sale is finalised. Constantin can't afford to make the films without Fox's funding. So either they co-operate, or let the rights lapse. Either way the Fantastic Four are going to Marvel Studios.

Hopefully making a better film than the reboot.

The only outstanding one is Spider-Man is it not? They only have him on loan from Sony and not fully. I imagine Disney will end up buying Sony next...!

One of the first things that popped into my head after Comcast would be a better fit (given how many Fox movies and shows are adult oriented) is if the Sky channels would reformat to 720p?

How would Comcast have been a better fit? You realise one of Disney's main motives for the take over is to widen its range of content in order to build a killer Netflix rival?

They won't. HD broadcasts in the UK are all 1080i. That will stay, the only switch to progressive would be more 2160p.

Included in the take over is the 21CF's stake in National Geographic Partners (the rest are owned by the Nat Geo Society). Will it affect Disney's own documentary film label DisneyNature?

Probably improve it.

That's one of the pleasing things about the sale, Disney seems to me to be a much better owner of something like Nat Geo than Fox.

There's a bit of a vague reference to National Geographic in the same paragraph as Disney's Animal Kingdom suggesting it will draw on the good reputation of Nat Geo.
