So the TVS archive will be owned by the same company that owns Challenge...

One part of the acquisition I've not seen mentioned is Endemol Shine. Fox own 50% (the other half by a private equity company).

I assume it's part of the deal.

I wonder what will happen to DisneyLife? If and when Disney acquire the full Sky business, I can see Life customers moving to NOW TV to watch Disney's back catalogue.

Having Disney acquire Sky should be easier for the Government to approve than Murdoch.

Correct:

Disney will also acquire FX Networks, National Geographic Partners, Fox Sports Regional Networks, Fox Networks Group International, Star India and Fox’s interests in Hulu, Sky plc, Tata Sky and Endemol Shine Group.

If this deal goes through (and presumably it will be subjected to quite a bit of scrutiny from competition authorities), a number of big points.

One of the first things pres wise that could be effected is that the Fox Sports regional networks will likely become part of ESPN and be rebranded - at any rate, they’ll be separated from the broadcast Fox (network) Sports operation and the FS1&2 channels and the Big 10 college sports network(which become part of “New Fox”, along with the Fox network and its owned and operated stations, as well as Fox News and Fox Business)

Presumably there’ll be some sort of agreement as to who owns the Fox brand (no doubt involving New Fox giving an undertaking to stay away from film production).

There's not a lot of crossover in the UK or Europe really, I don't see much to bother competition bodies on this side of the Atlantic, however there's enormous concerns in North America that's where media plurality issues will be in sharp focus.

Presumably, this will lead to Sky News severing ties with Fox News and entering into a partnership with ABC News.

Sad - Without getting too political, that was the one thing I was looking forward to if Trump came to the UK. Him inadvertently attacking a Murdoch related news channel because you know they wouldn't praise him like Fox do.

Again.....This proves we should all be paying more to the Simpsons.

Will be interesting to see how it works branding wise. I am assuming that Disney will only use the Fox brand for 20th Century Fox and Fox will retain the brand for its broadcast networks, but much of the Fox TV branding revolves around the searchlights. I'd imagine that would change.

Fox Sports is not affected by the takeover.

But you raise a good point about NewsCorp FOX and Disney FOX. I wonder whether there’s a clause as to who owns the name. A bit like when ITV bought UTV, they got the name included , as where the radio business of UTV reverted back to The Wireless Group.

I’m sure more information will be made available in due course.
