Don't forget 10 years ago back in 1991 most people only had 4 channels, i know i did, and Analogue Sat wasn't very big then with only a small number of channels broadcasting, the BBC, ITV & C4 had more programs then, they've lost things to other channels and presenters aswell, more channels has created more jobs for presenters!
And one thing that made Christmas better in 1991 were the '2's, sorry but the previous '2' christmas idents were good just like their normal ones!

Square Eyes, where are you getting that information from if Crossers isn't scheduled during Xmas week? I can't see there being no Xmas Crossroads. Carlton just wouldn't have it... would they?

Most people only have 5 channels now, in fact it is likely that a good 40% of viewers still have 4 channels Wink

There may be less cash to go around now, but as multichannel TV only accounts for 20% of the viewing figures, the terrestrials, and in particular ITV, should be 80% as good now as they were then. That patently is not true!!!!!

In any case 95% of major British productions are on terrestrial TV, and films are shown faster now on terrestrial than they were in 1991. There really is no excuse for this lazy excuse for a TV schedule, especially from ITV -- the Beeb have made a token effort it seems. Christmas Day on ITV looks much like a typical Tuesday night from where I'm sitting...

One interesting thing I've spotted is that both BBC1 and Disney Channel are planning to show Toy Story 2 on Xmas Day... (although Disney's first showing of it will be on the 9th). Top toy movie, as it happens...
BTW any ideas what this year's 5am kids' thing will be? Every year around Xmas the ITV Morning News is booted to 5mins and a kids/teens show is on instead. Past years have included 'Scooby Doo', 'Hurricanes' and the great 'Clueless', but any tips as to what this year's will be?

Crossroads isn't scheduled during Christmas Week, but apparently Patrick is due to be killed off before Christmas! Not that I watch it.

Indeed he does! From the Carlton.com message board:

Patrick tries to heal the rift between him and Kate this week by attempting to rekindle the romance between them, but Kate makes it clear she isn't interested. Seeing how hurt her father is, Nicola tells Patrick about the relationship between Kate and Billy. Patrick is absolutely furious, finds Billy, punches him and then sacks him. Patrick confronts Kate next, but is distraught when she tells him that their marriage is over. Everything gets on top of Patrick on Wednesday and he has a heart attack. Although paramedics do their best to save him, Patrick dies. An hysterical Nicola then finds Kate with Billy in his room. She tells them that Patrick is dead and accuses them of being his killers.

Well that's what Teletext said would be on BBC1 this year... they had a thing on p126 or p127 one day last week where they listed some of the movies on 1,2,3&4 over xmas. If that ain't so blame Teletext!
