With the re-launch of L!ve TV, it got me thinking about other satellite channels that have gone the way of the dodo over the years. I can think of:

Sky Comedy Channel – Does what it says on the tin.
The Money Channel – Some pop star went bankrupt over this
NBC Super Channel – A mix of Golf, American chat shows, and Golf.
Channel Health – Showed some smut late at night.

Can anyone think of others?

And not forgetting "Wellbeing" which was all about health and came from YTV in Leeds. All your favourite PMT complaints!

How exciting my first post......

Home Shopping Europe went the way of the dodo just over a year ago, I should know I ended up living back with my mum and dad as a result.

Still not too bitter..... if I ever meet the bloody investors though..... Twisted Evil

Sky Comedy Channel - Doesn't need to return, as we've had Parmount Comedy since Nov 1995.

Money Channel - The pop star bankrupted over this was Adam Faith, who died earlier this year.

NBC Super Channel - Originally known simply as "Super Channel", and in the UK, it was a cable
exclusive channel, just like L!VE TV was. It was acquired by NBC sometime in the mid 90's, and
eventually became known as NBC Europe. When NBC took over the running of Super Channel,
most of the original shows from Super Channel were gradually replaced with NBC programs,
such as the late talk shows hosted by the likes of Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien.

(Maybe Super Channel ought to return on Sky like L!VE TV just did!)

Channel Health - Never watched it, so I can't really comment.

Home Shopping Europe is still AFAIK going strong in Europe; Germany and France still operate the channel, which was renamed from HOT - Home Order Television.

The German "Wheel of Fortune" (Gluecksrad) makes extensive use of HSE: When a contestant wins a prize they are shown a minute long Screenshop style promo and they can choose "this... or any of these other H.S.E. products"

TCC went or is that now Trouble? Confused
:-(

Yes and no - TCC used to use a sloagn for their teen programming that used to say something like "there's gonna be trouble" and out of that was borne Trouble. I think it was there for a while, I remember it sharing with The Family Channel/Challenge TV

No, it was on satellite from launch in about 1984-5 and later carried on cable too

I would bring back the local channel for Swindon, because NTL made a huge mistake by getting rid of it

But only for hardcore satellite enthusiasts who could afford "very expensive" satellite systems. Most
ordinary TV viewers couldn't afford satellite TV, until Sky made satellite TV popular in the early 90's.

Realistically, for most ordinary people, "Super Channel" was only available to as a cable channel.
Therefore, technically "Super Channel" was cable exclusive. Only people with lots of spare cash
to burn (and patience to find it and tune in) could afford to view "Super Channel" via satellite TV.
