BBC News 24 (or News 23 for the time change!) normally can take up to 45 minutes to reflect the change.

As BBC News24's clock isn't on screen during the *:27 and *:57 weather (etc), I don't see how they could have any problems.

Surely, it can spin away for the 00:57GMT weather, be adjusted during the weather, and spin back onto screen at 02:01BST, showing the correct time?

Did it actually happen as smoothly as above "last night" (technically this morning), or not?

I don't think he's going to have much luck - Weatherview is usually recorded several hours in advance!

I don't know if it's still the case, but back in the days before EPGs, the broadcasting day used to cut-off at 6am.

Therefore, all TV programme times would have their VideoPlus codes programmed for the same time 'zone' up till 6am - even though the times themselves would be printed as GMT/BST accordingly either side of the 1/2am split.

I don't know if it's still the case, but I think 6am is still the time that PDC and EPG time signals change; therefore I wouldn't expect Ceefax or Teletext to change until then either.

Given the fact that most broadcasters always start a new programme at 6am, including news channels, it would be by far a better time to switch. Any time earlier, if things are how they used to be, is just a 'fudge' as far as the scheduling systems go.

EPG's just go from 12:59am to 2:00am surely?

Sky's EPG certainly does, and at the other end of the year it simply has 12:00, 1:00, 1:00, 2:00.

This year I noticed that anything on series link on my Sky+ planner altered back one hour for the whole of the coming week (eg Holloyoaks on E4 was set to record at 18:00 instead of 19:00). The recordings have so far taken place on time, and the next episode in the series reverts to the proper time.

Does anyone know why Sky do it this way, it seems abit odd. I almost went through changing everything. Shocked

The states of Australia which change their clocks (not all of them do, and I can't remember if Melbourne's included in one) SHOULD have put their clocks BACK an hour from summer to winter time over last weekend.

However, the Australian government passed a special law to move the change back a week for this year only, so the change wouldn't clash with the games.

The Australian states which change will go back an hour in the early hours of April 2nd this year.

39 days later

Sorry to bring up a slightly old topic, but just heard Matthew Jackson saying exactly the same thing to Helen Willetts into the late forecast on BBC1 just now... has he got a thing for her or something? Laughing

It was probably her enthusiastic "Good Evening!!". Wonderful end just now wishing us all the best for the weekend, full Skateboarders freezing on the end frame for a couple of seconds before cleanly going into N24 at the top of the next story (well, "more on that story now" but close enough Very Happy )
