Well as I type (14.42 Sat) .. the clock seems to have disappeared from News 24. Although they will probably mend it soon those of you who like to grab things without a clock can do so!

There's still no clock - 1500GMT!!! Philip Hayton hasn't mentioned anything about it!

Nicky what do you and other people at BBC News think to news 24 having a screen full of DOGS.

You think maybe BBC World may be having technical difficulties, so they've joined BBC NEWS 24? Also - do they say 'This is BBC News' or 'This is BBC News 24'

How strange!

I listed them the other day, they have:

BBC News 24 in the corner
www.bbc.co.uk
the clock
soon to come, the active dog
the FTSE dog
and then Jane Hill, of course that DOG is shown only occasionally.
Incidentally GMTV have Fiona Phillips as their main DOG.

very funny cheshirec!!

I don't think BBC World are having problems - Philip Hayton is saying 'This is BBC News 24 I'm Philip Hayton'

I wonder if News 24 are experimenting with the screen - perhaps they're testing what its like not to have the clock?

Well it's back now (1543) - it probably just broke ... I've seen it happen before. The only time we take it off on purpose is for ABC World News Tonight and if there is a HardTalk/Correspondent with subtitles that can't be read properly with the clock on.
As to what people who work at News 24 think of DOG's .. like anywhere various views.
If World do take News 24 for any reason (specials etc) they get a clean version anyway without any DOGs so they can add there's. The same applies if BBC1 take any News 24 specials ... there are various versions of our output minus certain DOGs.

I spoke to one of the presentation team at Sky a few months ago and suggested to her that they should use a transparent DOG as the current one was a bit 'in your face'.
She got the wrong end of the stick and instead of deciding to make the normal dog transparent, they stuck the transparent one on the headline sequence, my influence! Although, why they bothered I am not 100% certain.
I have seen Sky without a DOG or without a clock or the website address, incidentally it actually looks a lot better without the clock or the Sky.com thing above it.
American DOGS are a pain in the neck, I pity the person at CNN/us who has to change the DOG from CNN LIVE to CNN every 2 seconds.

are you anygood at making fonts?

I have painstakingly made all 26 letters of the alphabet in the same font as sky travel, i also have made bold, italic and bold italic versions of them, and am still confused as to the different punctuation symbols and numbers, if you could get a large image with all the font symbols and numbers, i could then have a go at making them...

When i can find a good way of making it into a font, i will and i will post it here for all to see.
