Never understood why Challenge retrofitted a different title sequence onto repeats of the show after a few years either, especially as the "new" version was awful, just one shot of the same character, and didn't match the audio.

Rights most probably, it wasn't just the titles that were changed - all the the characters in the titles that also appeared on the Replay straps were changed too aka covered up with a bigger strap. Presumably the issue was to do with those characters. But we'll probably never know either way.

Clive James was interviewed for Front Row Late last year, in what I expect was probably his final TV appearance (or at least his last notable TV interview), and I expect it will get repeated as a tribute

As expected, this is being shown at 7:30pm on BBC 2, with the Andrew Neil Show at 7pm.

Additionally, the Andrew Neil Interview which was scheduled at 7:30pm on BBC One has been replaced with Fake Britain.

Never known that to happen before. Three consecutive death reports on the same news bulletin. Sad

She also thought Clive James hosted Whose Line Is It Anyway? as well...

Just read Gary Rhodes was in the middle of filming a show for ITV too!

The news reminded me of Ross Burdens death, was Gary ever a regular on Ready Steady Cook?

Another spooky coincidence in that Ready Steady Cook is just about to start filming the new episodes for its comeback!

I'm intrigued by the fact that Rhodes took over from Loyd Grossman for the last series of the original format Masterchef, which was moved to BBC Two. Does anyone remember if it differed much in format from the Grossman years? (though I do realise there are probably few big foodies on this forum!)

Hearing that Gary Rhodes dying at 59 is no age to die.

I remember him being a guest critic on the Restaurant on RTÉ & presumably on VM some years ago.

May he R.I.P. Sad

From what i remember it had a jazzed up theme and set but pretty much same show.

I remember watching his documentary on Japan. It was particularly poignant when he visited his father's graveside in Hong Kong It showed a different side to his personality. Beneath the scathing joviality there was a deep thoughtful core. Thankfully he's not suffering anymore

RIP Clive. Also rest in eternal peace Gary and Jonathan.
