I believe tvmercia found a website with them on. Infact I know as I download themf rom it and am trying to promt him into linking to it as I can't be bothered to upload the files myself.

Ah, those things were great, all put out in the run up to the 1992 franchise decisions. There's one on my TV Whirl, buried away in the TTTV Misc section (where no-one ever finds anything) and there used to be an alternative version on Continuity Booth, but as that place has closed and restarted from scratch so often, I couldn't say whether or not it'll still be there.

Having grown up in ATV and Central-land, my all-time favourite classic was "Don Amott, King of Caravans - the price is right and the choice is yoooooours!". Nice to see the logo and cartoon lion still haven't changed at www.donamott.com, plus you can download the jingle! Very Happy

A friend also introduced me to the Yorkshire classic, Shackelton's High Seat Chairs. Apparently the ad gained a bit of a cult following. You can download it from www.shackletonsltd.co.uk. "It's lovely."

Rats! You beat me to it with Don Amott! A classic ad featured on Room 101 a couple of years ago (I forget who the guest was though).

I also liked the music from the West Midlands Safari Park adverts from the early 80s - it went "hayaaaa, hayaaaa wooo bedobedoo be dooo" (or something like that} Embarassed

Correction. They used to opt badly full stop, with a little bleep !

Don't forget the 'Tommy Tiler' ads, & the crap Telewest promos, espicially when they tried to produce their own promos for some of the channels/progs.

Anybody remember 'Cable 17' ?

I met Helen Weathers, one of the presenters the once, not long after Beacon changed in 1997, along with Dicky Dodd, sitting in a 'Black Thunder', one morning in Willenhall, where I work.

'I've seen you on my cable telly! Can I have a car sticker please?'

Yes, the bleep that you got before each opt! Tommy Tiler - yes I remember that! It seems such a long time ago. I can't remember any more, it was 1995 when we first had Cable.

Didn't Debbie Flint of QVC 'fame' have her own show on Cable 17? "One to watch"?

I think they did mention the location yes! Do you remember that Drayton Manor was always a "park and zoo"? the lighting ad reminds me of the Stechford Tiles radio jingle -
"big ones, small ones patterned or plain,
Once you've been once you'll want to come again,
We've got the lot, a one-stop-shop,
All at Stechford Tiles,
Get it all at Stechford Tiles....!

Ahem...

Ah! My dad used to work for the New Town. Kenneth Kendal fronted some of the ads as I recall!

Those lyrics were one the cause of a very heated argument between the then Sports Producer and one of the football commentators at a match reporting in for BRMB/Capital Gold Birmingham.
The argument being that if Stechford Tiles was really the 'one stop shop that's got the lot' why would you need to come back once you've been the first time around.?

Football commentator argued it was a throw away piece of advertising jargon and said sports producer should get over it.
Which he grudgingly did.
Still it was a lively discussion, and helped pass the remaining 2 mins of the ad break listening to those two slug it out over a 20 second advert!
