Classic Emmerdale

I've noticed the last few episodes have ended with the alternate theme music they only previously used on episodes that ended with the lead up music over the final scene.

We're not far off from them bringing back the original version of the theme tune over the end credits at the start of 1994 either. Or the "new" opening titles (which were just a re-edit of footage from the 1989 and 92 ones).

Yes the plane crash episodes are just two weeks away.

Yes, I get to see the actual plane crash episode on the 28th, then I'm away from home for a week and a half so it will be a while before I get to see the follow up episodes!

As long as the Tivo box doesn't screw up and not record them or corrupt the files or die on me...

Something else I have picked up on watching these classic episodes.

Annie’s Cottage was brought in as the farm they use is all on location and Sheila Mercia doesn’t do outdoor scenes. Although I am sure as well as the plane crash episodes there are some outdoor scenes to come up soon including some in the new farmhouse.

And not long after you posted that, we've just seen Sheila Mercier in a location shoot at the new farmhouse on today's first episode.

Edit: on the second episode too.

I am still two weeks behind but just watched the episode where Zoe comes out to Frank. I am aiming to be up to date for the build up to the place crash.

Hard to think in two weeks everything will dramatically change and some great characters will be gone.

I am now completely up to date with Classic Emmerdale and ready to see the full build up to next week’s dramatic episodes.

There have been quite a few outdoor scenes for Sheila Mercia.

I am also liking the introduction of the Windsor Family. They are a breath of fresh air and some comic value too.

Was there a reason for this at the time or just because she was old?

In 1987 she was written out to have knee surgery or something on her leg. I could be wrong but that may have been due to a real life operation.

Sheila cut down and hardly did any outdoor scenes from 1990 onwards and also in the early 1990s cut down on appearances.

I still wonder whether or not her eventual departure in the summer of 1994 was intended to be permanent or if initially it was due to a break. Her husband in real life passed away in 1993.

Back to present day and they could probably do with finding some cousins for Victoria as if she leaves they'll be no Sugdens left.

There were a couple of awful day-for-night shot scenes in today's episode. One on the bus, and another at the end of the episode where Maya came out of prison. Don't normally see them much, they look so fake.

Yet in Neighbours they seem to have no trouble keeping the Robinson name alive as Paul seems to gain more kids to fit in with the storyline!
