I think we predicted that one. Guess they'll get to the plane crash around the end of the year.

Has anybody worked out the timescale for when each new year will begin? I would have thought every ten weeks or so.

Also was it 1992 when they started to change the closing credit names? Meaning in order of appearance rather than length of service or seniority.

It is good to see Annie credited first but I know at some stage that sadly changes.

Does anybody know when they changed the order of appearance on closing credits? I know when Ronald Msgill left in 1991 he still appeared second after Annie. Was it later they Year? Only asking as that firmest was the same for many years.

Someone on YouTube, as well as elsewhere, is stating the plane crash episodes from 1993 were not shown in Scotland. Of course, I know this is utter bunkum, but he also mentions a campaign by Garry Bushell to have the episodes pulled before transmission. Is there any truth in this? I know it was controversial (the timing of the broadcast shortly after the 5th Anniversary of the Lockerbie air disaster) and Eamonn Holmes was one of the people who criticised the storyline on GMTV - but was there ever any serious attempt to have the episodes pulled, in Scotland or network-wide?

I’m also curious as to whether any ITV region (such as Border) aired a warning before the episode that it contained scenes viewers may find distressing, or similar?

OH yes there was a warning by STV CA before Emmerdale episode in question. It's one of the only few CA I can still remember, Emmerdale was also pushed back from its 5.10 slot to 19.00. Border must have done the same.

Emmerdale really could have at least moved it Feb or Oct, but no it had to be xmas.. around the 5th Anniversary of the Lockerbie air disaster Rolling Eyes
Is the next post dreaded?

If my memory serves me correct they did move the episode from the previous week which may have been on the exact anniversary of the Lockerbie Tragedy. By sheer coincidence the date it did transmit was my 18th Birthday but I believe it had been rescheduled.

Also we seem to be back with filmic episodes of the Classic Emmerdale. Since Amos’s farewell the following episodes filmic.

Didn’t they insert a hastily written episode with only a few characters to shunt the plane crash to a later date?

Unsure to be honest but we will soon find out o guess when it airs later this year.

I watched the two episodes shown before the plane crash on you tube recently which do have a strange different feeling about them.

I remember they kept having Annie give things away and saying things as if she was going to be killed off. Ironic one scene where despite the sad real life death of Clive Hornby all the characters in it bar Annie and Robert have been killed off.

There is an episode on YT that is titled 28 December 1993 and the last episode before the plane crash. But I'm fairly certain it's actually 23 December. It's set on Christmas Eve and there's a few "gaps" before the first crash episode.

There is dialogue on the first crash episode that suggests it is between Christmas and new year but that could well have been added at the last minute.

I think some people took issue with it being close to the 5th anniversary rather than any anniversary. Personally don't see what is so significant about 5 years. 1st or 10th anniversaries maybe.
