Well given that it was released on video, I'd say it was a possibility.

They'd have to do something else with the missing bits though, maybe get Cosgrove Hall in again? Much as I liked Uncle Tom's ramblings between the footage (Sh... sh... shaaaaaaadaaaaaaa!) you couldn't stick them on a DVD now as anything more than an extra.

I also think the soundtrack might need re-doing, didn't Keff step in for the VHS release?

It would be good to get Cosgrove Hall in again, I dod like the narration by Tom Baker but as you say it would look out of place on the DVD release.

Why do the recreations have to be animated?Get as many of the original actors in as possible and recreate the sets.It could work.

With actors who are 30 years older than the parts already on film?

And I don't think the Doctor Who Restoration Team's budget would quite stretch that far. And the bloke who played Professor Chronotis died.

Don't forget this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/webcasts/shada/

Would it be feasible for "Shada" to be completely remade with the current (or next after RTD goes) DW production team?

They could adapt it.

Given that large chunks of the story were never even recorded at all in 1978 (or whenever it was), how the hell would a Cosgrove Hall thing be able to happen? Remember, The Invasion 's animated episodes were matched with the originial TV soundtrack.

For certain portions of Shada there is no soundtrack, owing to the fact that nothing at all (neither sound nor pictures) was ever made. So, exactly what soundtrack would you propose that animated episodes are put to? Tom's narration?!

A "Cosgrove Hall thing" DID happen. Baker refused to do it (apparently him and Lalla Ward, his ex-wife, are on pretty bad terms), so they got Paul McGann in as the Eighth Doctor and did a slightly contrived prologue to explain why he'd be there instead of the Fourth. It's still on the BBC website, in fact: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/webcasts/shada/

A "slightly extended" audio-only version was also released on CD by Big Finish, and later transmitted a couple of times on BBC [Radio] 7.

If they were to re-work Shada on telly for the 10th Dr, as some have suggested, how that hell would that be explained narratively? It would be the THIRD time that the Dr has had exactly the same adventure! Confused

Scene: Cambridge

The Doctor looks around, puzzled

Donna: What's up now?

The Doctor: Ever get a feeling of deja vu? That you've done the same old things before? Sometimes it's even worse for Time Lords. Occasionally we really do live the same experiences again... and again.

Oh, yes, I knew that the 8th Dr animated version existed Smile But I got the impression that earlier post-ers were calling for a DVD release of the original 4th Dr version, with animation just for the missing bits. It was that that wouldn't make sense.

I've never seen 8th Dr Shada, but I've always heard that the "quality" of the animation (e.g. the frame-rate, or something like that?) for the 8th Dr Shada was "only good enough for online", which - so I've been lead to believe - is therefore rather poor quality for watching on DVD (i.e. on a proper TV screen)? If so, then a DVD release of 8th Dr Shada may not be such a brilliant idea?

If they were to re-work Shada on telly for the 10th Dr, as some have suggested, how that hell would that be explained narratively? It would be the THIRD time that the Dr has had exactly the same adventure! Confused

Human Nature occurred twice - the first time was in the Seventh Doctor's era. All that happened then was that the old book was declared non-canon and was reworked for television.

The same could easily happen with Shada .
