Ghost Light is one of the most confusing stories ever.

No surely Version 2 would have been shown, because the only reason 1b wasnt shown as the first episode is because the production team weren't happy with it. The character of the Doctor in V2 will match the one shown in all other Hartnell episodes, and so that makes it the logical one to be shown, seeing as it was the transmitted first episode on 1963.

Sorry, what I actually meant was:

If UKTV Gold were intending to show anything other than V2, then I would expect it to be more likely to be V1b rather than V1a. Sorry I didn't make that clear Embarassed

But, as you say, it would make most sense to show V2 if showing the whole rest of the story.

If UKTV did decide to show V1a/V1b, it would be most likely shown as in isolated episode, and clearly billed as "the untransmitted pilot episode" (or similar).

Thankfully, the DVD release includes a documentary in which the writer explains the plot. All previous occasions that I'd ever seen Ghost Light, I'd always been utterly confused. And, even with the benefit of an explaination before watching the story, it's still pretty confusing.

The next few Classic Doctor Who DVD's to be released this year:

6th August 2007 - Time-Flight / Arch Of Infinity (Peter Davison)
3rd September 2007 - The Time Warrior (Jon Perwee)
24th September 2007 - The Key To Time Boxset (Tom Baker)
15th October 2007 - Planet Of Evil (Tom Baker)

I think there should be one for November as well, according to wikipedia (not always accurate) February & December are the months where none are released

I'm sure I saw something written somewhere (website? magazine?) a while ago, referring to the boxset as " Tegan Tales ". But, I've forgotten where I saw that, and every time I've looked on either the official BBC Doctor Who website or the Restoration Team website since then, it's always referred to simply as " Time-Flight & Arc of Infinity ". Even the "Coming Soon to DVD" trailer on the Timelash DVD sticks with plain old " Time-Flight & Arc of Infinity ". Did I just imagine the " Tegan Tales " thing? Confused

I hope that the actual boxset does indeed use either the " Tegan Tales " or something similar, as " Time-Flight & Arc of Infinity " doesn't sound very good as a " boxset name". After all, none of the other Classic Who boxsets are simply called "[story title] & [story title]" (etc), they've all got proper names ( The Beginning , New Beginnings , and presumably it'll be The Key To Time when that one comes out).

So please, BBC/2entertain, dont call it just plain old " Time-Flight & Arc of Infinity "!

Tegan Tales was a name shown on Play.com for a couple of weeks, and was never anything official. The boxset will just be released with as Time-Flight/Arc of Infinity.

I've already pre-ordered it off of play.com, the "Tegan Tales" name is no longer used unfortunately

YouTube contains numerous attempts at montages of the various Doctor Who title sequences, most of which are really quite sh*tly done. One I've seen even omits the 5th Dr titles altogether! Rolling Eyes

However, this one is utterly fantastic! It's really professionally edited, with seamless visual mixes, and with the various versions of the theme tune seamlessly blending together.

The inclusion of the Dominic Glynn (sp?) version of the theme makes a nice change too - you normally always only get the 6th Dr with the Peter Howell music.

Superb, IMHO.
