Yeah I mistakingly though that one was already out Embarassed Laughing

I picked up Robot after work today. Woolies £2 cheaper than HMV Shocked usually HMV cheaper by 1 or 2p. Anyway not to impressed with the extras. Maybe Im being picky, I only picked up The Three Doctors at the weekend and was quite impressed with the extras on there.

We've been so spoilt for extras on other discs that we expect loads each time, I think it's also a case of what's available.

have you found the hidden easter egg on the dvd?
press left on 1 of the icons (i forgot which one it was) and the doctor who logo on the top of the screen will turn green press enter/ok. and you will get some contiunity annoucements!

Thanks for that, I did think it was rather odd considering all other recent releases had continunity annoucements (Genesis Of The Daleks has around 6-8 mins of idents, programme slides, etc.)

Watched Rememberance of the Daleks (Sylvester McCoy) and found it a bit strange.

It was a good story by why did the Daleks wobble so much, also I found Sylvester McCoy's Doctor a bit odd, seemed a bit more like Golum(sp) or Mr Bean at times Laughing . Ace was a good character though although a bit odd hearing her refer to him as the Professor half of the time.

You could also tell the budget in some ways were being cut by this point, also the camera quality seemed a bit different, sort of liek the ones they used for outside broadcasts of Grange Hill. Wink

Logopolis was a good if a tad confusing storyline and the ending was a little bit sad, if only because you knew it was the last ever story with Tom Baker. He was a very angry Doctor in the episode although I couldn't tell whether or not that was because of the script dictated it or if it was Tom Baker himself emphasising the anger.

Robot I quite liked as well, the Robot suit didn't look that bad considering it was filmed in 1974 & Tom Baker showed exactly why he was the ultimate Doctor, he slid into that role with ease.

Genesis of The Daleks is working out to be an excellent story so far, watched the first three parts & only stopped watching because it was getting late & I had work today

Tom Baker is definately my favourite Doctor so far with Pertwee/Tennant joint second favourite & Troughton/Davison/Ecclestone third favourites.

Haven't watch a Hartnell story yet or the Movie and unfortunately not overlly impressed with Colin Baker or Sylvester McCoy at the moment.

Watched the final 3 parts of Genesis of the Daleks and have to say this is my most favourite Dalek story ever, they are shown here as being single minder cold blooded killers, which by the time we got to Colin Baker had been camped up too much.

The outside locations for Skaro & bunkers added to the effect of this story as well, simply excellent

Yes plenty of idents there from 1975, 1982, 1993 (Optics x2, Neon x3, Water Reflection), 2000 (Dalek Type 1 & 2, Blade "Those rude little pepper pots are far from happy" Laughing ) and various slides, menu's, etc.

Getting quite a few in my collection now:

William Hartnell
The Dalek Invasion of Earth

Patrick Troughton
The Tomb of The Cybermen
The Seeds Of Death

John Pertwee
Inferno

Tom Baker
Robot
Genesis Of The Daleks
The Talons Of Weng-Chiang
City of Death
The Keeper Of Traken
Logopolis

Peter Davison
Castrovalva
Resurrection Of The Daleks
Earthshock (await from play.com)

Colin Baker
Revelation Of The Daleks

Sylvester McCoy
Rememberance Of The Daleks

Can you tell who my favourite classic Doctor is yet Wink Laughing

And what people need to remember about Genesis Of The Daleks was that this was the very first time we saw Davros. The awe factor was diminished everytime he returned but here it was fresh, original and exciting. The Daleks weren't actually in the story that much and it was all about Davros's scheming. An absolute classic and it still remains the best Dalek story.

Agreed. By the time we got to Colin Baker's incarnation he seemed rather, well, pointless

I think Robot was a very poor debut for Tom Baker and gave no indication of what we were to expect from him. It says a lot that the ratings went down for each episode and the story feels like a leftover from the Pertwee era. They wanted to show that his face may have changed but he was still The Doctor hence seeing UNIT and Bessie. And they were following on from Pertwee who had been the most popular Doctor and they were worried they'd lose some of his audience.

But it was The Ark In Space for me that was the proper debut for Tom Baker and the Hinchcliffe/Holmes team. And it's fitting that this was the story that broke the record for the highest rated episode of Doctor Who (until City Of Death) with 13 million. This was when the general public realised that the new guy wasn't too bad at all.

i was actually watching seeds of death last night. I can do the Ice Warrior's voices. That effect they used when people were shot was godawful though!

Well it was 1969 Laughing I've seen episodes 1-3 so far of that story.

I know Troughton was in all three multi doctor stories (3 doctors, 5 doctors & 2 doctors) but which oen was he best in?

Or more specifically which oen was the best of the multi doctor stories?

I'd say The Three Doctors definitely. He's still the same Doctor but for some reason he's really good in this one. Bickering with Pertwee, banging the Brig's radio to make it work, it's all good. Very Happy

Had a quick butchers on the BBC Doctor Who website, and for the person who said there was an opportunity to download the cover that matched the rest:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2004/12/23/16240.shtml

Shame they haven't thought to do this on reprints of the DVD

One quick question, Shada is well known as the incomplete episode. My question is how complete was it before they stopped production?

I'm going to seek out that one today.

Watched Castrovalva & The Seeds Of Death over the last couple of days

Castrovalva , although not a very strong story was a good one nonetheless (is that one word??? Wink ). Rather good set and locations. Peter Davison fits into the roll well although I can see why some where put off, he was afterall a big change in direction compared to Tom Baker.

Very odd seeing Three companions as opposed to one, was this the most companions a Doctor ever had after Hartnell?

Seeds of Death on the other hand was excellent, a good storyline and quite fearsome villians. Shame it weren't in colour but then again the make up may not have looked so good in colour.

The effect of their ray gun (as discussed on the previous page) was a bit naff but did for 1969. The music had an eerie martian sound to it as well. Troughton was excellent again, just a shame not many of his stories survive completely in tact.

After watching this episode I personally thought The Ice Warriors would be good villians to bring back in series 4 of the current run. Anyone else agree?
