ITCplc see CITV pretty much the same way they see regional stations; surplus to requirements. After all, who cares about kids TV? Rolling Eyes

Indeed.

Give it a few years and they'll get round to the remainder of their factual, current affairs and news programming as well.

Too much money for not enough return.

But as Simon points out, this works both ways. ITV is, these days, given too many privileges for not enough return. It's time they were kicked into touch.

It could all be solved with adequate hands-on regulation. But no, that would be deemed "anti-competitive" from rivals like Sky.

We're now seeing happen with politics and current affairs what has happened to CITV. Stuff like I'm A Celebrity will be passed off as "factual" in its place. I suppose the next thing to be hit will be drama even though that's still one thing ITV does very well, as Sunday night proved.

Cack-handed scheduling from our friends at ITV plc - and bad news for Nightscreen fans! Aren't ITV also showing Terminator 2 at 1:30am or something daft?

If ITV has to provide so many hours children's programming, surely there should also be a requirement to schedule those programmes at a time when the target audience is most likely to be available?

They've been showing CITV at this hour at Christmas for years, although they are starting a bit earlier this time

If CBeebies on Two can start at 6am, why can't CITV start at 5am, I'm sure young kids don't wake up in line with tv scheduling traditions

If I was up before 6am on Christmas Day I'd have been frogmarched right back to bed!

Weirdos. I think they think that toddlers are up really early.

I think they're fulfilling their quota which requires a minimum number of hours of children's programming to be shown, which I believe is averaged out over the year. Thus I suspect they're showing children's programming because they have to rather than particularly wanting to.
