Having managed to get my hands on an original vhs video of T Bag and the pearls of wisdom greatly known in the late 80s and 90s from the mighty THAMES TV i now see that Citv is just imported dribble, why dont they just save their money and get rid of the channel. i mean they sacked all of their in house staff or what was left anyway.I reckon citv won't last ,many years now. Bring back cheap home grown stuff is what i say like t bag, grotbags and dangermouse! CITV was also good for drama, what a shame it has now been dummed down to nothingness!
Unless they show more classic shows, then I have to agree. It's a really pointless channel and should use it for something more useful like Men and Motors or a new channel.
The biggest "what's the point" with the CITV channel is that it no longer broadcasts on Saturday afternoons - potentially when it might have its biggest audience - so that ITV4 can have the hours. You couldn't make it up.
MPs now suggesting the licence fee should be top sliced further to fund regional and childrens programming on ITV.
Which is ridiculous - this situation could easily be resolved by OFCOM finding it's backbone once again and making it simple. No children's programmes, no regional programmes - no channel!
The way ITV have used DSO as an excuse to rid itself of some key public service responsibilities is bad enough - but it's those stupid enough to fall for it who really should be held to account.
Yes in this digital world ITV could run their content on a channel without the same PSB restrictions - but lose their licence and they'd lose their EPG place and 4 of their 5 Freeview channels (ITV own the SDN Mux too, but most services on that are under contract for the foreseeable future).

It would make more sense to have ITV4 take over the current ITV2+1 stream, then broadcast CITV from 6am-7pm with ITV2+1 from 7pm-6am.

Or even try something different in the later hours of the channel, last year I would have said ITV Play, but the ITV Movies channel that people were on about would have been a good idea, but then that would take films away from the other channels.
I don't think that they should get rid of the channel, but as brekkie boy said ofcom should get some backbone, it's as though ofcom see ITV and just bend over for them.
Erm Kids? This is slightly off topic but within the same bubble. I've had this idea for ages. Any network could do this (one of the sky/virgin channels perhaps) in an idea similar to Adult Swim. Do a 'strand' of 'Older' Kids show repeats (from 1980-1997) in the early evening (around 7-9pm). Aimed at 'Younger adults' basically all the shows they watched as children. Stuff from the Children's BBC and ITV vaults. Or to put it another way repeats of old Children's BBC and Children's ITV shows aimed at the says 18-30 age bracket branded into a early evening strand. Best suited on one of the 'Children's channels' in a similar way that in the US Cartoon Network becomes Adult Swim and Nickelodeon becomes Nick At Nite.
It's an idea I think would be more popular than you think. Lot's of people in the 18-30 bracket would enjoy seeing some of those childhood memories again.
First shows to get airings in the stand would be 'Round The Bend' 'Watt On Earth' '(Very Early) Chucklevison' 'Fun House' and 'Run The Risk'.
