Tom and Andrea were the two new presenters who turned up in around 2000 to present with Stephen and Danielle. Then, as said above, there were new presenters in late 2001. Leah, Leigh and err, I can't remember the bloke's name.

That late-90s, early-00s CiTV really was fab. I'd moved over to it from CBBC by that point, and it was really great.

When talking about the CBBC/CBeebies-esque split, don't forget Telly Tots, which began in 2000, I think, as an alternative way of framing the pre-school programmes. It was a return for Steve Ryde to voicing characters, as it was an out-of-vision cartoon continuity set in a very yellow cartoon world. There are a couple of clips on TV Ark. It's notable that they didn't run either show's credits when they should have done, instead coming straight out into the next bit of cartoon continuity. Then, after the Telly Tots theme and sponsorship sting (it was sponsored by MilkyBar for some time) the invision presenters would pop up to advertise the upcoming afternoon schedule as both shows' credits ran concurrently down one side of the screen.

Also, when was the ill-fated "stripped" era? It seemed utterly bonkers to me as a kid at the time and it meant that Christmas episodes of shows went out in December, as they made the scheduling moves after the commissions had been made. I'm sure others can remember the details far better than I can. But it was a total failure. After all, who wants to see the same shows every day on end?!

I think the stripped era was mostly 2001 and carried on until early 2002, the first day of them doing it is on YouTube somewhere, with strangely Fearne Cotton on it as well, also the guy they got in late 2001's name was David, he also did Diggit on GMTV.

This seems to be the YouTube link that you're talking about? It also Telly Tots end credit sequence that I described earlier. It seems that the stripped scheduling happened earlier than I remembered then, if the date on that video is right - it took place right at the start of 2001. (And who knew, Paul Akinboka has done something sensible online for once...!)

If it was new year then presumably Fearne was covering for the other presenters being on holiday?

Yeah, it was either the others were on holiday or she was just there because of Fingertips, but it's most likely the former, as around this time they also had somebody off the Top Ten Of Everything as well, possibly as a cover too.

I have no memory of Fox Kids having in-vision

From what I can gather from what people told me, it was in the channel's early days, pre-2000 anyway. I'm sure I remember an advert for the channel I saw in The Beano in the late 90s that mentioned it.

Definately in vision and live from Granada Studios. I know this because the working studio was actually part of the Granada Studios Tour towards the end of its life.

Depends on whether it's his video, or if he's just ripped and re-uploaded someone else's video!

Aww loved that era growing up as a kid, brings back memories with the "It's A ---- Kind Of Thing". Got a bit daft when they had all the newbies come in, though the bigger studio was cool.

Including the young male newbie who only lasted a couple of days. Mainly because on his first day Danielle asked him what his favourite CITV programme was and he nervously said 'Live & Kicking' then stunned silence. There was a video of this on Youtube I saw a few years ago but can't seem to find it now.

Was this "Tom"? Now better known as Arthur Darvill, who played Rory in Doctor Who for a few series.

No it wasn't Tom/Arthur. I think this was before they were around as it was definitely in the old set so it must have been sometime in 1999/2000. As a frequent viewer of CITV in this era, it was someone I did not recognise at all. I'm hoping it's still on Youtube somewhere so I'll carry on looking.

It was David Leon, who most recently starred in Vera for 4 series. I found the new presenters (in 2001) a bit forced. I always thought they were always trying to be cool but they weren't. If a link went wrong, they just apologised and didn't laugh it off unlike their CBBC counterparts.

From 2007-10 CITV had a very obvious CBBC/CBeebies style split at weekends -

Compare to -

Also note Sue Monroe in those pre-school clips - she actually jumped from CBeebies to CITV.

I think Wakey Wakey actually came before Toonattik, so would have technically been part of GMTV Kids despite the CITV logo.

There was also that rubbish replacement if Jamie and Anna were on holiday- Action Stations. All it really was just the voices of them as robots introducing all the cartoons- no games or teams or gunge.

Worth pointing out to this thread that away from YouTube, the best site for CiTV clippage is TV Whirl. Some excellent clips there.

The high point for CiTV continuity was the White Knuckle Tour which really showed a large scale in their presentation. It was great fun and really impressive. This website has some behind the scenes info and pictures: http://www.duncanwheelhouse.com/citv/index.htm

As I've said before, I moved over to watching CiTV in late-1999 and I really think that its pres was ahead of the competition at this point (as CBBC entered one of its lesser phases). This was the case right through to 2002 or so, when the relaunched CBBC edged ahead again and it wasn't long before CiTV's presentation went completely. It's interesting to note the fact that the really pared-down 2003-4 era came about rather suddenly, as there was a big studio refresh in September 2002 and the pres still seemed big right through early 2003. Then, all of a sudden, it was one man, a puppet in an empty studio. And that didn't last long.

There was a fab YouTube channel with loads of early-00s CiTV, but it seems to have been shut down by the copyright police.

TheWild1999? He had quite a few clips, some of them have been reuploaded by other users who downloaded them while they were still up

That seems to be the only era of CiTV where there is virtually no clips of it at all. I've seen a few of when they did that behind the scenes thing just before they went back to OOV, a snippet after the end of a Globo Loco episode, and I could of sworn there used to be the entire last day of them presenting some where, but that seems to have gone. Also it wasn't just Andy or whatever his name was. I think his sister was on in that era as well, which was quite weird, and at some point Gail McKenna was there for a bit too.

Was that the era of the polystyrene-looking (to me anyway) studio with the Swag Bag?
