I'm pretty sure CD:UK always had its own DOG? I certainly remember them having one when Ant, Dec and Cat presented.

That is clearly the presentation (including skunk character and font) from SM:TV, hence the CITV dog. CD:UK almost always had its own dog, and 2000 seems too late for the presentation to be swapped around.

On a completely different topic, I never knew this song existed and I wish I still didn't. Why on earth did they attempt to sample that piece of music? Mind you, I guess it's around the same time that S Club 7's 'Natural' sampled Fauré's Pavane, so it must have been in vogue to be sampling little bits of popular classical pieces...!

I only ever watched the first episode of Ministry of Mayhem but I remember they did a link-up with Cat to plug CDUK during the programme. It always used to be the case that the credits for CDUK covered both SMTV and CDUK, but when Cat left SMTV the link became a bit more tenuous and I remember towards the end SMTV had its own credits.
And that Atomic Kitten song is brilliant, the best record they did. I bought it because of that sample, much as I bought The Only Rhyme That Bites by 808 State because of the same sample.
I had a quick look around and it appears that the CiTV DOG was dropped from CD:UK about when Ant and Dec left, but the trail would still appear. I think when Ministry of Mayhem started was when it was then not a part of CiTV at all.

It wasn't Cat, it was Michelle McManus! I seem to remember them putting her in the opening titles to MoM (along with the presenters and characters) for a few weeks after that even though I don't t think she appeared on the show again.
After a couple of weeks they did bring back the CD:UK promo at the end of MoM, but for some reason it only had static photos rather than moving video- and no music video attatched to it either!
I think it was only when SM:TV Gold started that SM:TV got its own credits- though the penultimate SM:TV Gold didn't have any credits for some reason! A large chunk of SM:TV Gold's run was separated from CD:UK anyway by being broadcast in the afternoon.
I guess the strange thing about SM:TVs credits appearing at the end of CD:UK means now the rights are separately owned, it means that the credits to most episodes of SM:TV appear on tapes of a show owned by a totally different company!

CD:UK itself seemed to find itself being pre-recorded a fair bit after MoM launched- was always quite obvious because someone other than Cat (or whoever was presenting that week, as she seemed to be absent a fair bit during her last year) did the chart rundown!
I know there were a couple of occasions where they got Holly in a helicopter to fly her from Maidstone to Hammersmith to present CD:UK, which meant she was missing for half of MoM!
And the less said about the short lived 2005 CD:UK revamp, the better...
Another thing I've noticed on some clips is that the "spiky" CITV ident was used on ITV2 for a short while after its launched to close their CITV slots, which seems strange as the background to it was based on the SM:TV and CD:UK logos.

Holly & Dave Berry presented a lot.
The revamp to the presentation was needed at the time - I'm not sure that three presenters were but I guess that it was to try to emulate the original incarnation of the programme with the three presenters.
The spiky logo was also used on Sunday mornings too, but the bug was the usual rather than the SM:TV version.
