I seem to remember during the CITV Old School weekend they were originally going to show a Finders Keepers episode from 1991, they switched to one from 1994 at the last minute, presumably due to the TVS rights issues (I guess the same reason we got the US Fraggle Rock, which they really shouldn't have shown as CITV never showed it!). Presumably the same reason Challenge started at Series 3 too.

I had actually assumed that shows that continued with new producers after 1993, the rights to the old episodes moved to the new producers- as Art Attack and Ruth Rendell have both had their TVS episodes repeated in recent years. But Challenge's inablility to show the TVS episodes of Catchphrase and Finders Keepers seems to put that into doubt.

Though you do have the bizarre thing where Series 3 of Finders Keepers was made in a TVS Studio, with TVS staff while TVS was still on the air, but was being made for Scottish.

I bet it used to take ages to film an episode of Finders Keepers, having to reset the rooms between the mini games and the final round, not to mention if they filmed in bulk more than one episode a day.

Fun House "apparently" took 12 minutes to reset for another episode.

Early Finders Keepers considering how lacklustre it appears to be compared to the later STV series probably can be reset with a vacuum cleaner and a duster. STV era, considering the mess, probably took slightly longer, I reckon at least half an hour Very Happy I wondered if the set rotated and they was more than one house, so while one house was being trashed the other could be reset behind the scenes. I don't think it rotated though, or at least it wasn't obvious on screen that it rotated.

One thing I do know is that when they moved the show up to Glasgow for the final series in 1996, they transported the set up there... then found the studio at Cowcaddens wasn't as high as the one in Maidstone.

Series 5&6 (along with 3&4 of Fun House) should be starting on Challenge soon. They did say it was starting in October, but that's been and gone and still no sign of them!

I presume you mean The Cartoons, who made Witch Doctor. Though that song didn't come out until 1999- a year after Scratchy & Co ended, and 3 1/2 years after we'd last seen Scratchy in that wig!

Yes, it reminded me of them. A year after Scratchy & Co is around the same time to me.

Where was the 2006 comeback done? I honestly really don't know.

News to me as well; the good book (Wikipedia) says it's so though. Was presented by Jeff Brazier.

I remember watching this after school. It was made by Foundation Productions and they used Maidstone, they also used it for Saturday Showdown

2006 Finders Keepers was made by The Foundation, and the Maidstone Studios website says the original Finders Keepers house was in Studio 2, the 2006 house in Studio 5.

I remember reading the reason WOW was axed was because ITV had spent a fortune getting the Formula 1 rights, so they cut the Saturday morning budget to pay for it- so we got cheap to make stuff like Scratchy & Co, Tricky and Mashed for the next 2 years before SM:TV began.

I remember hearing about that aswell. It was shame but CITV was always the first to get the chop. I dont believe Scratchy & Co was ever live, while Tricky also sure was pre-recorded aswell. Mind you Fully booked was always pre-recorded until it changed to FBI.

Its believe Fraggle rock tapes are deffo wiped.

That is a strange one, I believe Finders keeper did moved to STV, since there took over the show. Ie like Rupert, How 2 and even Art Attack. All went into the hands of STV. Whats up doc was always STV show, it was Scottish TV for TVS, using TVS staff.....

TVS Catchphrase was kept in the hands of IFE but was broadcast on challenge until 2000ish. Its strange how some stuff was transfered over while other stuff did not.

Scottish TV had an office in Maidstone until 1996, so if you were driving down the M20 in Kent you would have seen a sign for Scottish Televison.

Yes! It was a week long celebration for ITV's 40th birthday so must have been 1995. The week of 'simply the best' contained a presenter - Mal (possibly?) who visited the fake Goggle family for a week because they were The family who it was made out watched the most tv. It led up to CITV's celebration with the first CITV Awards which I remember as being straight presented awards. The awards returned for the next few years.[

Yes, I remember it vividly. I even have the jingle in my head.

Simplyyyyyyyyyy the best!
