Here's an interesting video, the gallery of CITV 1998 at about 1 minute in, a few adverts and an unwelcome VT clock towards the back end of the video:

When the ITV News Channel moved to Freeview multiplex D3&4, GMTV enforced their hours and simulcast there too if I remember correctly
Oh yes, completely forgotten about this. Indont think they did simulcast on there, from what I remember it was a useless slide telling you to switch over to GMTV for the news (even when they were showing kids shows) with some pictures of their presenters. This was then followed by a crash into a report come 9:25.

Don't know why they didn't just simulcast GMTV the whole time or indeed why this only happened on Freeview.

It might have just been to cash in on the increased demand for children's adverts in the run up to Christmas. I recall they showed a few My Parents are Aliens on a Sunday afternoon back when we still had regional continuity. I'm sure other slots were extended at that time of year, as a matter of course, Sunday's would be beefed up with full in vision continuity rather than just something quick and pre recorded, I think the 12:30 slot on Saturdays would be kids shows at that time of year as well.

I don't know what the quota of kids shows would have been, but I doubt ITV would have been so close to the wire that they had to make up time.

It's a shame the BBC genome project didn't compile ITV and Channel 4 listings from 1991 onwards whilst they were there so we had a better reference.

Even then it was a hit and a miss, STV did have kids shows on that slot. while others had movies, games and videos. Some even had some real strange output.

Almost the rest of that afternoon's continuity is there on YouTube, and it seems like it's just before they did a studio revamp in September, and only 1 week before SM:TV and CD:uk launched! And, why is The Chart Show part of the weekends promo? I'm sure it was never CiTV branded.

CD:UK was appearing in CITV weekends promos well into the MoM era as well! Whether it was technically part of CITV or not, it was definately trailed by them!

I think 623058 was implying though it was a CITV broadcast rather than a GMTV broadcast.

I understand now

ITV2 was only on OnDigital/ITV Digital at that time and had next to no viewership. So technically it was "lost". Smile

Not really true- it was on digital cable, and on analogue cable in many areas too- quite possibly viewable by more people than BBC Choice and Knowledge was at the time!

Turns out there were two Telly Tots videos pushed out in 2001 and 2002. The early one comes complete with the original Milkybar sponsorship as was used on the Telly Tots strand on CiTV. The other one, um, doesn't Smile

Somebody pointed a camera at the telly for this video hence the crap quality but it shows the opening of the 2001 video, and the 2002 video opening is on YouTube as well:

Search for B000059ZAQ on Amazon for the front cover for the 2001 video, and B00005UPN4 for the 2002 video. Notice how the early one is just branded Telly Tots and the only other "clue" that it had anything to do with CITV is the characters, the yellow oval and the typeface. The 2002 video has the CITV logo on it in a much bigger oval but not the characters.

It also turns out there was an annual for Telly Tots in 2001 as well.

There were a few more videos made as well, there was two more Younger Kids ones made, though not Telly Tots branded, with links done by Stephen and Danielle, and one older kids video, again with links. Interesting to note that Zzzap! was on one of the Pre-school releases for some reason.

I remember that Telly Tots annual. I think I owned it when I was a wee lad!
