Nick Xmas Idents:
2001 - The screen flies around a bleak, snow-covered, orange-skied landscape with weird floating green trees and red hearts, before a big fridge door slams on the whole thing, with "Merry Xmas" spelled out in coloured fridge magnets on it. (There were various lengths of this ident - a 30 second version was frequently used!)
2002 - Various christmas items (there were six varients: snowman, christmas tree, cracker, roast turkey, snowflake, christmas pudding) whizz around the screen with christmas music playing in the background. Then, the items start to crackle and fizz, as does the music, before the item explodes, and the Nickelodeon logo crashes onto the screen.
2003 - A - The L8R presenters stand on a stage, playing a musical instrument (rock style), and say "Christmas Rocks" in a really stupid tone of voice. B - The L8R presenters muck around on the stage, and the voiceover says, "You're Watching Christmas on Nickelodeon".
Yeah, I know, I'm sad for remembering all of this
Merry Christmas!
I only got sky in january 2002, so i missed all of the 2001 christmas pres on all channels. I think I remember last years now that you mention it. And I've seen the version of this years with them standing on the stage looking at the camera with the voiceover saying "You're watching Christmas on Nickelodeon."
I think it was for yesturday only. As they had no regional news due to an extended extra news programme at 2:30-3:15, they went straight to an advert break, and he came on to say what was coming up. He did include the flinstones which hasn't been on a wednesday for a few weeks now.
Yeah I noticed this a month or so ago, though you only notice on certain camera angles, usually when she's sitting down next to swag.
I remember one year that they had all of the 'land before time' movies on in the early hours of the morning. Although I can't remember if they were included in CBBC.
itv usually show programmes in the early hours around christmas, but it's never been that extensive, aimed at tots, or CiTV branded. Usually its just a few episodes of old programmes.

Interesting to note that CiTV began with a network anno this afternoon. How long has this happened?

Think CBBC was on at 5.30am, Christmas Day one year.

Previous years' CITV at 5am christmas slots have included Hurricanes and Clueless, think this is the first time they've used Tellytots shows in the slot tho'...

The Hurricanes do you remember that. A cartoon about an american soccer team.
Its a good idea to put Little CiTV programmes on pre 6am as little kids are bound to be up at that time especially on Christmas morning!

LOL! I do. I loved the show as it was on at the time when I was at a peak of being a football fan, ironically it was on just before I went to football practice. Though I lost virtually all interest in football when I was 13. I remember it had a catchy theme tune- though it escapes me now. It was a typical American show though as when they weren't out playing football they were beating the bad guys (or some other rubbish).

Didn't they have an X-Men style aeroplane too?
Let's see, wasn't the theme tune first line something like...
#We're the Hurricanes! Our Champion Spirits Here Again!# And then it continues!

Well this is the CiTV thread and it is appropriate, but how long has Thomas The Tank Engine been back on CiTV, as I noticed it this afternoon, they must be new episodes but I watched it (sad enough I know) but more embarassingly for ITV they've bought new episodes of what was one of their old shows from HiT and Nick Jr!

All of the recent batch of Thomas have been the new Nick Jr ones which have, of course, recreated the style of the originals. One difference, though, is that the originals were shown as two episodes back to back (with that short bridging sequence between them), whereas the new eps are single 5 minute programmes.

Well Michael & Leah together twice in the same week, can it be? I much prefer this set up with the two of them as they can talk and adlib, and its great, along with swag too.
I wonder what they are going to do in the new year. Will Michael stay or go, will they have new animations based on the new line up of shows?
And how long are these Christmas Animations going to last, as they say 'Christmas is coming', so will they still do the usual and have them after christmas till new year? Or will they change it so the voice says 'Christmas has gone, that's it, it's over!'. Or something.
If Ministry isn't starting till the 2nd saturday in January, do you think we may see a show like pre september where Michael & Leah present highlights of 2003 along with previews of 2004?
