It will be a shame to see it go after so many years, perhaps one last try may have worked. I don't get why they replace shows though. WHy can't they just bring in a new production team to the current ones?
But the same can be applied to the Big Breakfast. Not matter what you throw at it, change the presenters, add new bits in, mix the chemistry etc. It will always be remembered as it was best at the start and it will be tarnished with that until it finally ends.
No there weren't were there. I wonder why. DId they join them up with cd:uk's. I think the reason they stopped this was because they started to repeat cd:uk on itv2 (aswell as the thursday night/friday morning show), and it looked odd for people that hasn't watched SM:tv to see the credits including tess daly & brian dowling (e.g.'s).
The thing is that SM:tv is a well established brand, where as the name Ministry of Mayhem has only been leaked in a small article in the sun. They could have hired a new production team, perhaps making it co produced between blaze and foundation tv, then see if they could save it that way. Look at Blue Peter, Eastenders, Coronation Street, they're all still going strong even though the whole production team has changed hand multiple times since they started giving new life to them.
Not sure it's the same thing though. I think the fact that Michael reffered to the "ministry" yesterday pretty much proves it. There's still nothing to say that the SM:TV brand might not return in the future though.
I know that Michael referred to it, and that most probably is the name. But with a few weeks left till launch they have had no official press release about it, as they did to say that SM:tv was ending.
It will be interesting to see what it is like when it launches. I presume with SM:tv finishing (with a pre record) on dec 27th, then the first show should be january 3rd.
I hope with it being called Ministry of Mayhem it doesn't go all Dick & Dom esque. Viewers need something different, an alternative.
Yes, I really don't like Dick & Dom at all. I don't think I'd have liked it when I was a kid either. It it was on when I was 10, I'd have switched to Telegantic Megavision (shudders). I really much more prefer the normal Saturday Morning format- Studio-based with presenters, guests, music & comedy (though admittadly I liked Scratchy & Co which wasn't like any of the other Sat morning progs). I think MoM will be more like SM:TV than anything else (and even if it isn't when it starts, it probabally will be after a few months).

Personally I think that the new show needs to be different, else people won't bother watching it. You need programmes to be different in order to make them stand out, that's what made Dick & Dom stand out (although it doesn't mean we should have several copy-cat versions of that programme).
H and Claire weren't featured at all, by any chance were they? I sent SM:tv a letter asking that at least one clip of H and Claire be shown before the end as they haven't shown a single one. Ah well. Maybe next week.

No, they weren't joined with CD:UK. SM:TV has only had its own credits since SM:TV gold started beforehame they have always been part of CD:UK. The reasont hey stopped was definatly nothing to do with the ITV2 repeats, they've been going for as long as I can remember (I saw an ITV2 repeat of the Xmas 1998 episode)
I was quite impressed by today's show. And I actually kept laughing at non old SM:tv clips, like when Des held the cheeky girls saying we have two gorgeous ladies with us today, Kerry McFadden & Carol Vorderman. And when Kerry pressed Des' face up against her breasts. And the return of Garbage Hunt, classic with the cheeky girls "So you're from Transalvania, are people from Transalvania called 'Tranies'?" "You could only be Vampires if you were born on Halloween, ah right."
You can tell Garbage Hunt is a sketch specially made for Des to do, as he seems to be good with the old impressions.
I thought it was a bit poor that Chums was in the phone vote, although it is often seen as the best part of SM:TV. I find some of the other sketches such as "Anty and Decky" funnier at times.
Although today's proper Chums was a good one, I remember how funny that "I love you baby" business was when it was first shown!
Carol Vorderman mentioned Conor McAnally during her bit as well!
I think Ministry of Mayhem will fail to capture a strong audience. They'll need to start really selling it now and making sure the format works. I've felt that SMTV over the past year has been a tad bit dry.
