Today's My Parents are Aliens was the one where Brian becomes a baby, it was only on the other week!.

I do hope they're not going to start running this into the ground and show it endlessly like they've done with All Grown Up. They could at least have been sensible about it and put the second part of the Beauty and The Breast episode up for choosing.

Today's Art Attack was another one where I think Neil is flogging a dead horse. That 'dropped dinner' was really detailed and I can't see anyone going to all that bother!

I fail to see exactly what use this "dropped dinner" idea is gong to be in the real world. The "joke" will wear off after the third use, guaranteed and it'll end up in the bin.

Art Attack seems a bit "over the top" for some of the art attacks recently. That Harry Potter thingy last week, for example, and the 'dropped dinner' thing this week. I know Neil's said he thinks all these things up and lets his kids have a say, but I don't believe a 10yr-old and a 7yr-old (ages of Neil's children) are really going to bother making a dropped dinner as presented on the programme. It only seems to be the final art attack of the show that's going to have any real use in the real world. The Big art attacks are as good as ever though.

Isn't the appeal of art shows the fact that you can watch somebody else make it without going to the effort yourself ?

As a kid I spent years watching Tony Hart, but never once felt compelled to have a go. Didn't detract from the programme though.

Well yes I suppose, although when Neil says 'try it yourself' he probably knows nobody will.

The best bit is when he moves through the art attacks, when he says 'then you can paint it', and he moves from a crap one and brings in a really elaborate item that looks perfect in one step!. Those extra ones he throws in at the end are also funny. Like today, after the main 'dropped dinner', he showed loads of other really well made dinners, with sponges cut up and painted to look like Fish Fingers, but no proper explanation is given!.

Fingertips seems to be a bit more basic!

It's interesting some of the things that have come about this year, like the dragon the other week. Though I wouln't say that they are too complicated compared to early series. And you can always log on to the website for simpler instructions if Neil confuses you.

I don't get why he drew Santa on today's show. I know it was to demonstrate white pencils, but couldn't he have done something else?

The best ideas usually come around at Christmas, but the scheduling is terrible. Apparently he's making some bauble this year, on Monday 21st December, when no one will have time to make them!!! And there only ever seem to be one Christmas Show, when there are so many christmas things that they could do.

Cost as well. Not everybody just so happens to have a glass bowl of PVA glue in equal parts with water at the back of the cupboard. I suppose those sorts of projects, like Dropped Dinner, could be used in school as well.

This put me right off the original item when I was younger and I just assumed he was so crap at the job he had to have a practise before! The programme though has always been geared towards those who can draw decently. I, sadly, was never blessed with that talent and can quite easily screw up drawing stickmen.

At least there's one show that hasn't been dumbed down (well, not that much anyway).

But their items look much more fun after you've made them!

I have just seen the new christmas advert for CiTV. It looks as if it the christmas presentation is starting on Monday.
Off topic now but the new GMTV TODAY idents are crap. They haven't even bothered with the music and the snow looks sooooooooo cheap!

Michael appeared in "You can do Magic" today, and after it he said in the CiTV studio, "He's a tricky one, that Mulhern... I'll have to watch out for him when I'm in the Ministry next year... for those of you that know what I mean..."

Yeah I saw this. I like it how Michael drops little things to the viewers, so the name must be right then. I think everyone in this thread now knows. Its a shame that they worked it as a recorded programme coming out of You Can Do Magic. They could have had him wearing the same clothes this afternoon, and add a bus driving over the screen to look as though he'd caught it back.

Have spotted the trailers and all of the clips of christmas programmes. And Michael said that there will be trees and stuff, I wonder how festive they will make it looking, and I hope they don't go for white trees, though against that white background it would look wrong.

The animation looks really wierd, it doesnt look very festive at the moment as last year we had the bouncing letters on the snowed on oval with trees and presents surrounding them on the trailers. I wonder if they will have a main start up ident looking like this. And how will they adapt the music, we will have to wait and see.

GMTV's main ident looks great with the traditional tune, and the new 3D snowflakes, and dark bue background. It's a shame that for christmas they can't use they can't use the 1998-2000 long christmas ident for GMTV today. The today titles could have easily been adapted so that the yellow suns, were turned into gold/red bauballs, have a tree in the background, and look as though the camera was going round and up the tree, ending up with the GMTV today logo on top of the tree.

Or something simpler could have been to darken the colour of the titles, add some bells to the music (or use the 98 xmas version), and some fake snow, and the lovely 3D snowflakes. If LK Today can manage it, why can't GMTV today.

Back to CiTV, and Michael said about SM:tv tomorrow morning and that they would be back with mini makes on sunday. And didn't mention tomorrow afternoon, and sunday afternoon.

Stephen Mulhern's not been on SMTV Gold for awhile, I suspect he won't be coming back to saturday mornings until the Ministry of Mayhem.

Stephen was there last week.

Notice how the last show is being advertised as "SM:TV Live" rather than Gold.

A bit disapointing today that they didn't put the SM:TV christmas theme over the Gold titles, and maybe a bit of falling snow as well. Maybe they'll do it next week and feature all christmas clips?

I was quite impressed by today's show. And I actually kept laughing at non old SM:tv clips, like when Des held the cheeky girls saying we have two gorgeous ladies with us today, Kerry McFadden & Carol Vorderman. And when Kerry pressed Des' face up against her breasts. And the return of Garbage Hunt, classic with the cheeky girls "So you're from Transalvania, are people from Transalvania called 'Tranies'?" "You could only be Vampires if you were born on Halloween, ah right."

I can see why the producers wanted Kerry McFadden in 2001, its a shame she got pregnant really, or that she wasn't in the show in march. It may have worked if they had a total clean out as Des is quite witty, well now, Shavaughan was a good presenter, and Kerry would have been great.

It will be a shame to see it go after so many years, perhaps one last try may have worked. I don't get why they replace shows though. WHy can't they just bring in a new production team to the current ones?
