The brand new series of My Parents are Aliens ends this week
but... next week there will be episodes picked via a viewers vote
And then maybe, but I must stress this is just my idea, they might then show the christmas episodes from an earlier series during the week after that :
they will now gain extra time by having the angry beavers back on instead of the flinstones
They're bringing the Angry beavers back? Huzzah! I love the show! Yet another connection for me to SM:TV- anyon remember the "Beaver Lever"? Not hugely excting really. You know the structure in the SM:TV studio? These days it's only really where the audience stand, but in the early days Ant, Dec & Cat used to do some presenting up there as well (I believe CD:UK still do links from up there, but in the early days they did a lot more). In the middle up the structure was some control unit (or something odd like that) and one of the things on it was a furry lever- the "beaver lever" which they used to pull at the start of The Angry Beavers. Though they got rid of that control until thing after a couple of months, not sure why though. Not hugely intersting, but it's one of my memories from the early days of SM:TV that SM:TV Gold don't even seem to want to touch.
Also, can anyone remember the pre-title sequence they used to have at the very beginning? It was like a split-screen think which showed Ant, Dec and Cat getting ready, then at the very end it showed Ant waking up in some odd place and screaming (it was different every week- I remember one week was a roof, another was the middle of the field). They stopped using it after a few weeks though, the same week the theme tune changed (orignally SM:TV and CD:UK had the same theme music, the only difference was SM:TVs said "Wake up, It's Saturday", whereas CD:UK's said "Countdown UK, Countdown UK").
I remeber it all. Though I can only find episode three on video. This one started with the excellent CiTV 1998 explosion ident with the spiked weekend logo, went into the pre title sequence, where Ant ends up hanging off a lamp post screaming. This was also the week when they got rid of the words on the SM:tv titles, it was music only, but still had the 'Saturday' on the into programme stings, and the "Wake Up! Saturday" in the break stings. The show started with a load of animals in the studio. And the cd:uk background music played throughout the show as it was the same. I think it really worked well, and was good music. Shame they got rid of it. Well, not really a shame as SM:tv became a much better show, but it would have been interesting.
The desk was still there on top of the 1998-99 tower. They got rid of this when they introduced an audience into the show, as the audience had to go on top of the tower, and they then started to use it as a guest interview area on cd:uk, as they had the space. It was quite a good idea having the desk, and I quite liked the format of the show at the start. Perhaps it wasn't good for a saturday morning programme that had to compete against live & kicking, but for a live afternoon slot, or summer show.
It also featured Wonkey Donkey in the days before the wonkey donkey music. They played a game of Smitten Kitten with the Honeyz back again! As they were the guests on the first show, well I say guests, they gave away a Playstation i think!
They had the big interview with Ant playing Mel B. And other quick sketches like the Milkman. Though the show was full with quick competitions. And because they had no audience, they could prounch about the cd:uk stages, and up and down the tower. This really made the link present, as it was the same show with two seperate parts.
The presentation around Seriously Weird started with an ITV1 ident with an announcement which ended with "...Record of the Year, tonight at 5.40 on ITV1" this went straight into CITV DOGed pres and a trailer for MPAA. There was then a quick CITV sting.
At the end the credits were squashed to allow a 'Mondays' trailer which went full screen before the credits had ended. After this there was one of those new CITV 'Just for the fun of it' trailers and then straight into an ITV1 breakbumper. So notice no start or end CITV idents on this occasion
I still don't see why they have to go into CITV Pres for one programme on a weekend. I personally thought it was much better when it just went out with ITV1 pres.

I'm wondering if you can please make me a copy of that show (with the accompanying CD:UK if you have it). If you can, then please PM me. Cheers.
Also, fanoftv (or anyone else on here), do you have any other editions of SM:TV & CD:UK on video? Again, if you do, then please PM me. I'd love to see more past editions (at least from the Ant/Dec/Cat era). And getting video copies is the only way until at least ITV Kids say they might repeat it.
BTW, I do have a triler (somewhere) for the first CD:UK. I did have one for SM:TV as well- I taped the last Chart Show and the SM:TV trialer was on before it, the CD:UK trialer was on after it, but by accident all but the last 5 minutes was wiped, so I lost the SM:TV trailer (I still remember it though, well there was actually 2 triails for SM:TV- the one I had on video showed everywhere being deserted as everyone was at home watching SM:TV, the other one had Ant & Dec outside the studio doors telling us about the show then they offered to show us the studio, then Cat came on and said "don't, it will spoil the suprise")
Could someone please put the first opening sequence on here. I don't remember the FIRST one, as I didn't watch it then!
Thank you very much!
LoveTV!!
PS: If anyone off of SMTV is reading this, PLEASE leave the credits of Chums on! You did it for SMTV 2099, so please do it for chums.
And does anyone know if Chums will be repeated on CiTV, like they did it before (it was on a 4:50pm I think) It was good to end the afternoon on!
Looks like SM:TV was shorter in the beginning. I looked at that trailer for the first CD:UK and it said it started at 10:40, which menas SM:TV was only 1hr 15 minutes, which seems short. More recently CD:UK ws starting at 11:30, shows how SM:TV must have got more popular if it was extended by 50 minutes.
Also, an errounous statement was made on a recent SM:TV gold as Stephen said Sabrina had been on SM:TV since the start- it wasn't. It has been there from fairly early on, but not since the beginning. At the start of SM:TV their programmes were Cow & Chicken (And I Am Weasel) and The Angry Beavers (I can't thank SM:TV enough for introducing me to The Angry Beavers), and seeing the show was only 75 minutes long, there wouldn't have been time for them to fit Sabrina in anyway.

Are you sure that wasn't due to a Grand Prix ?
Might have been actually but as I don't follow F1 I can't remember. I've got a TV Guide upstairs from November 1998 (don't ask why I kept it! I don't remember myself). I'll see what times SM:TV & CD:UK were on then
Edit: Looks like you're right. On November 21st 1998 SM:TV was on until 11:30
Probably, SMTV was a victim to the Grand Prix many times.
Indeed, I only know about when SM:TV as we know it started around September 1999, but a popular change used to be SMTV ending at 11am and then CD:UK on for only half an hour, with F1 starting at 11.30. Ant and Dec always used to point out that it was a short show that week
