its a shame citv doesnt have the wide choice of presenters that cbbc does

They used to drag in people who featured in the shows. They've had her off the Big Bang programme presenting although I've forgotten what her name is, and I'm sure Fern Cotton's been on as well. Back in 2000 when they still showed Mike & Angelo they were even able to get Steven Geller in for the afternoon, and Tim Whitehall as well on another afternoon. Shame they never got that other lady off the show, the Scottish one, Katy something I think her name was.

CiTV always used to have the themed guests who'd then go and introduce their own show. They seem to have cut down on this recently which is a tremendous shame.

Yeah. Back in the days of Stephen and Danielle, they used to have guests from progs like Bernard's Watch and Whizziwig (anyone remember that??). I even remember they had a couple of live performances from people like Tracy Shaw (!)

I'm sure if this CiTV channel does go ahead, there will be more than just Micheal and Leah.

Hi,
I was wondering if Starfinder will be back?

I know it got taken off because of poor ratings (because it was on once week), but will it be back on for a week? (showing every-day). I wonder if there will be an Alien Week 2?

They have been short of guests. I'm not a fan of guest presenters. Soem of teh people can act, but are rubbish at presenting live tv. And due to the fact they only get enough time to introduce prorgrammes now, i dont think its possible.

Perhaps with extra investment from itv, they wont have to have breaks in the middle of programmes. And can therefore save time.

As for proper presenters. Michael is a talented presenter. I think he presents jungle run as well as dominic and chris, if not better. There was something creepy about Chris Jarvis hosting it, especailly at the end where he shouted, 'And if you find yourself in the Jungle; RUN!!!'.

Would they have extra presenters on a CiTV channel, or would they just have an extra CiTV Live programme from 5pm on the channel and have the rest as graphics with a CA.

You say about the choice of CBBC presenters, but some of them are really rubbish. They have some good ones like Angellica, Jake, Barney. But then they have some rubbish ones that lack personality.

As for StarFinder. I presume they will bring it back one day. Perhaps they will have them on in the mornings perhaps between christmas and new year.

Wouldn't surprise me if they skimp on that and do it all in a 1993-1998 type format and have neither Michael or Leah on it.

My only concern is exactly what they're going to fill this CiTV channel up with. Unless they go and buy up some of their older programming for transmission on this channel, they're not going to have a earth shattering line-up based on current CiTV output. Fascinating though All Grown Up and My Parents Are Aliens both are in their own way, they're not going to prop up the channel on their own merits.

Thats what I mean. They should be commission new programming and try it out in a CiTV2 slot, then build on successes of shows, and new types of programming.

By doing this they can build up their output of home grown productions, then build up on their reputation, and if all of that works, then it is time to launch a channel, when they have the audience, the programming and reputation to do so.

At the moment they have been trying to come up with new programmes, some have been successful, others not so. They have even resorted to a schedule made up of one american import.

If they launch a channel soon, it will backfire in their face, and they won't want to start one again in the future when the time is right.

I think they really want to make more homegrown productions such as Aliens, Star, Starfinder and so on and so forth but they don't have the money at present. And even if they could make them, there's nowhere to show them. I do think they should use ITV2 a bit more in this respect. Prove to the people that its capable of showing more than Corrie and Emmerdale omnibuses, which is all it ever shows when I tune in.

After all, the CBBC Channel (when it used to show during the day on BBC Choice's channel) didn't just launch one day out of the blue did it? Although that did really well for itself when they split it off and relaunched as Cbeebies.

I do think they're going to dig themselves into a hole with the CiTV Channel if it does launch - They can't rely on Sabrina to bail it out as she already does that for Nickelodeon. Aliens isn't going to pull in more than about 25% of what it already does on ITV1. All Grown Up will end up on Nicktoons TV eventually at some point and that'll be its natural home before the CiTV Channel gets going. Other homegrown stuff like Boohbah and Tiny Planets won't work either because of the target audience for them, although TP does potentially reach out to older kids more than Boohbah, for obvious reasons.

I think the only way they're going to be able to do it to get the channel going is to buy up their own back catalogue. Like a CiTV Gold channel if you like. It'll never work otherwise.

CiTV Channel having the rights to Sabrina? not in a million years. Nick has the rights for 10 years and it's made by VIACOM.

All Grown Up! - as I pointed out earlier, I found out that it and other new nicktoons Chalkzone and My Neighbour is a Teenage Robot are going to be on Nicktoons TV next year.

I remember this time last year they had about 4 presenters in the afternoon in pairs. Then before the new year, they got rid of the scottish woman, the man with brown hair and Stephen went off to do more CiTV afternoon shows. That left Michael and Leah, it's been like that pretty much since - except for that blonde haired woman and the woman off the Big Bang that did a bit of presenting on CiTV throught out this year.

I remember seeing Michael years ago when he was auditioning for the job that Simon Thomas eventually got on Blue Peter... I wonder who CiTV would get to replace him once he goes and does that Saturday morning show?

MPAA is littered with characters that showed up at least once before and have never been seen again or their disappearance never explained.

Off the top of my head, there's:

Mikey, the fresh-faced kid from Series 1 who was never seen again after episode 3.

Howey, end of Series 2, never seen again despite the storyline saying that the Johnsons were to adopt him.

The black teacher as mentioned above.

Most of the other extras over the years.

And probably some others as well Smile

Well on today's episode notice that they've managed to get Poppy Manning back again for another series.

I liked that bit where Michael morphed into Leah in the middle adverts!

...if they replace him with anyone. Do they need another presenter if Leah will do 5 days a week? They only use one anyway. Until they need two for the afternoon i suppose they could stick with the one, perhaps turning the studio into a massive, and i mean massic desk, so that she can sit behind and do her links, and maybe present with a puppet, sort of like kirsten & otis did on CBBC, and jeanne & Scraggy on CiTV (early 90's)

That may work. Have a new full time puppet. It would keep young kids watching, and would be able to get away with more things than presenters do.

I'd say either pick up Des, and maybe another female, or Liam of Diggin'it. Though we all presume Michael will be leaving, he could still do his Tuesday & Wednesday shifts for CiTV, and then go and prepare for the show on the saturday. AND WE STILL HAVE NO NAME FOR IT!

Bring back Otis the Aardvark to the other side. I liked him on CBBC, he'd be good on CiTV. Should never have left CBBC in the first place though, especially when they unveiled that silly Emleyn the Gremlin puppet to replace him (best thing CBBC ever did, scrapping the Gremlin).
