It looked an utter shambles fromwhere i was sitting! (well lying in bed really)

The SMTV Gold graphic just stayed in vision instead of cutting to Emma Bunton in the chums studio and only when the screen went black did they cut to Stephen Mulhearn presenting the link.

The sponsorship was a bit hit and miss and one was ad break was played in the middle of a portion of the show before swiftly cutting back to black then eventually the studio!

There were no CITV branded break bumpers or break flashes - WHY?

But the normal itv1 graphics did re-appear before part two of CD:UK - which is even more baffling because it is strictly still CITV?

Also one ad break was also transmitted in 4 x 3 rather than in widescreen and the whole morning looked very shabby indeed. Shabby from the SMTV live studios point of view and also from whoever was providing the ad breaks.

Why would GMTV be providing ONLY ad breaks to an itv programme? Whenever there has been this 'pay off' between GMTV and ITV1 for using their airtime with football, F1 or now rugby - GMTV dont usually just claim the ad breaks but also air their OWN programmes in that space aswell.

BUT if GMTV are showing their own ads with an ITV1 programme surely it would make more sense just to let the ads be run from the usual places? But saying that the ads always seem to work on GMTV normally where there are many different ads fed to different regions each morning!

Oh well lets hope all the mistakes are edited out for the ITV2 replay!

Why does the weekend dog look ever so slightly different to the weekday one?

Probabally becuase it is generated by the SMTV gallery rather than at Birmingham. I don't know if anyone else can reemmber, but int he early days of SMTV, they used to use a DOG (and ident) with spikes on the CITV logo

Oh yeah I remember this, one of the best idents, as it was part of the best sets of idents and graphics I have seen for a while. It was the sept 1998 - aug 1999 weekend ident that Sunday's CiTV also used, but they didnt use the spiked dog.

The ident was discontinued for the CiTV redesign in sept 1999, with the rollercoster ident being used for weekends, this ended with the normal CiTV logo, yet the SM:tv dog was still the spiked version until when ant & dec left (i think).

When they were using the small CiTV dog earlier this year during SM:tv Live, it always seemed slightly opaque compared to the Birmingham weekday dog.

Many faults within SM:tv today. Perhaps what they should do is let CiTV in Birmingham broadcast it and therefore things like proper dogs, start up idents and break bumpers/flashes can be added. The adverts did seem wierd. Though SM:tv have yet to carry the CiTV break bumpers & flashes, only occasionally using the itv1 breakbumper.

We don't get them on Saturdays anyway, its usually standard ITV1 breakbumpers

Not really I wouldn't say CD:UK was fully part of CITV, there used to be an ITV1 ident before it at one time

They've done it before when they were down on hours after an F1 last year, its probably part of the deal

Where were The Flintstones Friday?

The presenters (michael&leah) didn't even say anything, they just said "heres what about mimi?". It was scheduled in my TV guide, and for next week! I hope they haven't axed it altogether, have they lost the episodes???
BRING IT BACK!! LoveTV!!

From the Sky EPG, what about mimi is scheduled for next friday also. I was a bit miffed, but it is still down for the flinstones to appear on monday & wednesday at 3:30pm. It seems like they are spreading things equally now. So that there are two eps of most rather than one of one, and three of the other.

Are you talking about the "Be Part Of It" idents? Where they had the kids doing different stuff like on the mobile etc? Good Idea i liked them but where to rushed.

No, we were on about the february 2002 idents, when they changed the idents and set to metal, dark, and rubbish graphics to what came before.

The Be Part Of It ones were before, the first set were introduced in summer 2000 that featured the neon CiTV logo being created by two fingers on the hands, such as the three boys doing the postbag dance by the postbox.

The second set were introduced in summer 2001, and just featured people doing things and talking, such as the one of the boy picking petals of a daisy, and you heard him saying fishcakes, burgers, fishcakes, yay, burgers! with the BE PART OF C iT V text appearing.

yeah them ones, I think there was one where they had a it set in a PArk with them by a tree and they said something and then it says CiTV Be Part Of It! like in a Lines kind of logo.

Looks like SMTV is still thankfully 4:3. Though after watching SMTV Gold it's obvious that Ant & Dec leaving was the single worst thing to happen to the show and it's a shame the producers never tried to coax them back, as they could have saved the show. I hope that one day one channel (possibly ITV Kids if it gets off the ground) repeats full episodes of SMTV, it would be great to see them again.

I wish that they'd show some more classic moments on SM:TV Gold than they do, and get rid of Eat My Goal.

Stuff like the opening sketch, and Dec shouting at the callers on Wonkey Donkey, plus lesser sketches will never get shown in the current vote format. What was everyone's favourite sketches from the Ant and Dec era anyway? Notice how the Brian, Tess and James era seems to have totally been forgotten about!

I really loved the Secret of My Success sketches, with Cat with those big teeth in with a brummie accent. I don't think they show enough of those.

Anty & Decy seem to be popular sketches, I wasn't so keen on the Space one, the best one of the non-Ant & Dec era for me was Casually.

I think they should show some of the classic Challenge Ant's & Splatoons as well.

I have to agree that The Secrets Of My Success ones were really funny, I still have the one of Ant and Dec's last show on Video, but on SOMS they were on the set of Byker Grove and Dec was talking about how well respected he was at Byker. But all the people assisting Ant and Dec were dead funny, such as Frank Skinner and Mark Lammar.

I did have The Best Of Chums on video, but it's broken, but they had one of the Cat The Dog sketches on it where Dec takes up dancing lessons but then ended up with Cat. (How Suprising) But they ended it very well on Cat's last show, the obvious thing which happened was that Cat The Dog became the normal Cat Deeley. (And they didn't have to spend that much money either)

I didn't see all of today's SM:tv Gold (I only got up at 10.45am) but I'd say they picked a good episode of Chums, with Tamzin Outhwaite being shot and the Voice Over asking 'Who shot Phil Mitchell?' was a good choice. But the best one ever was the one on Ant and Dec's last show.

The Ant Aid one was another classic "There's someone at the door more celebs at the door...". The comedy lines in today's were good "Vanessa's got a new haircut?"

Anty and Decy was a funny sketch, better than SM:TV 2099. The references to Prozac The Giggle Fairy and Dizzy Water Dizzy Water Dizzy Water are funny everytime!.

I agree some Challenge Ant's should be shown, like that one where Ant played against 'Kirsty' the little girl, I never understood who she was, her who used to man the phones during Dec Says. Some classic standalone sketches like 'Europop' and the Ant's Songs should get more airings, and some classic postbags (like the one where someone's dad 'pumped in the biscuit tin'!)

I have to agree with that as they were funny. But IMO one of or the best one was where Ant had to play against his sister and she ended up winning half of his Simpsons stuff, which was very funny. Plus I seem to recall they did one where they swapped roles as Dec was in Ant's position, but I remember they did that one for a reason. Lets hope they get through more next week. I wish it was on at 9.25am next week as I am out at 2.20pm next Saturday which is not fair. Sad
