Todays episode was a classic example of why I like this show. It doesn't require masses of brain power to understand but you don't need to be under 12 to get the humour. Should be more CiTV shows like it.
Indeed and its got a really good cast as well, not just the main lot but even the supporting cast like Frankie and Pete are well casted as well.
Whatever happened to that other kid, used to hang around with Frankie and Pete and only appeared in Series 1? Think his name was Mikey?

The new series of my parents are aliens looks good. And I must have missed todays ep when it was shown last year, i was laughing in stiches, 'Brian the musical' and sophie acting like Julie Andrews in 'sound of music'.

Woah, woah, woah! Whats this all about, no on ementioned pop idol previously bar you. The intention as it has been is to keep it CiTV and SM:TV, or as CiTV and the new show (yet un named), I will re title it when that comes along. Its amazing that the original intention was just to point out an SM:tv announcement, I cant even remember what it was, oh it was about Brian leaving wasnt it? 45 pages later and all the major conributors are still here! Well done, and keep with it.
SM:tv this week:
Back to its usual 9:25, Eat My Goal is back with Busted taking on Phixx (they are the 5 boys that didnt make it into one true voice!). The Blazin Squad are performing their new single. Wonkey Donkey's back, That's So Raven's on (when is the new sabrina starting, Nick have nearly shownt the whole new series (though they are showing two new eps a day!)), and instead of Pokemon, a third weekly installment of All Grown UP!
Jenny Frost out of Atomic Kitten will be hosting with Des & Stephen this week, though Emma Bunton will be the one re living her SM:tv experiences, and what a collection that will be, I hope they show a load of clips from her summer presenting with Cat for 4 weeks in 2000 which included the section on #Pokemon Health Education & Welfare, P - H - E - W, Phew!# (nice little jingle that was), where instead of the rap and pokefight, they shownt you pokemon related things like the fashion show with victoria beckham. And the BEST game (non viewer competition) infact, one of the only games that SM:tv had ever done 'THE SPICE IS RIGHT' , with the nice little theme tune, #Spice, is the name of the game, but can you het the spice price right, oh can you get the spice price right, where the prizes are really RUBBISH!#; along with Cat doing a Bruce Forsythe, Emma, Victoria and Mel C playing the game, and Jackie Chane modelling the prizes, it was CLASS! Infact, I may go and watch it now, I could do with a good laugh!
Who said SM:TV was all about Ant & Dec!

Wouldn't that have to come out of the CiTV budget though? They only have a budget of about £35m now and seem to struggle to fill 100mins a day at the moment let alone 12hrs.
Do they have enough material for such a channel? Wouldn't they have to renegoiate rights and that for digital telly? Okay they're no Nickelodeon but if they can do what they do only with more British programming as opposed to "the Sabrina channel" aka Nick, then it might work...

Today, someone who is in the know told me that next year CITV will relaunch as ITV1 Kids. At the same time, a new channel called ITV Kids will launch.

A strand on ITV2, fair enough but a whole channel? In such a competitive environment I'd doubt it would stand much of a chance. You would lose the CiTV brand and gain the ITV brand. Which will pull the punters in more? "ITV1 Kids" is nowhere near as catchy as "CiTV" either.
Launching a "ITV Gold" surely has more rewards attached to it than another kids channel.
Interesting to note where http://www.itv.com/kids redirects to though.

And what's wrong with "the CITV Channel" all of a sudden? I think that would be a great name in itself. Don't need this "ITV1 Kids" rubbish, just confuse everything, that would.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The slang term of 'Kids' is not cool. CiTV, is great, as its a brand thats been around for nearly 21 years, everyone under 35 will have at least heard of it, moct have watched it over the years. It's a natural progression to change from Children's ITV to CiTV, but itv Kids is just horrible. There is only Fox Kids that used the word Kids in their branding, mind you, Fox children doesnt sound right, I think its an american thing.
Why cant we take a leaf out of the americans and develop a childrens channel/network on a name rather than a big company with kids/childrens.
I think five/channel 5 had the right approach by calling their slots milkshake (at first didnt have a name though)/ shake (previously the horrible name of milkshake fm, because at first it was eddie matthews preparing for his radio show whilst introducing links!)/ and the Core (no longer with us, dont know why, kate mcintyre was great with the links from her little chair, it was when they put in marc crumpton and a bigger studio, not massive, but bigger; this was also previously unnamed, anyone remember the 2D coloured faces, I have them on Video too somewhere!)
Why cant they just rebrand (as I have suggested many times) CiTV under the itv brand (i.e. the current logo or the squares, or both!)
A channel would be nice, but without filling it with imports, repeats and repetitious programming itv aren't ready to produce a children's channel. One day maybe. At the moment, they havent even tried out the market. They have 2 presenters (very experienced, and work together very well, but only 2!), they have a great production team who are just getting to their feet and trying out new ideas.
So if anything, what they should do is do a CiTV follow up on itv2. As itv1 shows lifestyle programming from 5pm, CiTV should switch channels and have a 2 hour CiTV2 programme that previews new programming and a half hour slot of GOLD programming each day, getting a new double act going, a young pair of presenters that they could nurture and work with.
It would be a total waste of time going into the channel market if they dont know how the audience would take it, they could launch one and get lower ratings than the CBBC Channel. One of the reasons the BBC Children's channels were launched (more so CBeebies) was due to fact that they had tried the audience in the downtime of BBC Choice, and it got viewers.
The CBBC Channel started by using a lot of spin offs from popular shows, XChange, Blue Peter flies the world, and Blue Peter Unleashed, Newsround Showbiz, The Saturday Show Extra/Remix, etc.
Its always been a fantasy of mine to see a CiTV network of channels, it usually also involves me being at the helm, but they have a long way to go yet. They need to develop what they have. They could even try a BBC Choice and put CiTV tots shows on from 9:25-midday on itv, with their usual spin offs and american imports midday - 5pm, citv2 5 - 7pm, and then itv2 shows 7pm -6am.
If they focus on what they have then they may go further. If they dont try out the market then they may have a flop on their hands!
If they discover new young talent that people like to watch then viewers would follow them, just how viewers have followed ant & dec from SM:tv to saturday night takeaway and pop idol.
In all honesty, as much as I love CiTV, and though I had also heard this rumour, I hope thats just what it is, a rumour, towards a renaming of itv kids and a channel!

ITV Gold is also currently in development. It's likely that ITV Gold & ITV Kids will share the same channel ala CBBC/BBC3.
Don't forget Carlton Kids!

I can't see that happening myself. It's one of those rumours that has been around for years.
Changing the name to ITV Kids is even less likely in my opinion, although it gets mentioned on here from time to time I've never seen anyone in an official capacity mention it. It's just one of those name change rumours, like 'Will Granada become ITV1 North West!'
