Some may have watched this week and not liked it and may go back to SM:tv, others may have watched sm:tv and spread the word about ant, dec & cat sketches back on.
Alternatively they may have spread the word about the bungalow, we just dont know how kids & playgrounds work!
Well, I imagine any kids who are old enough to talk, would be too old for Dick & Dom. I have a feeling SMTV didn't do particurlarly well this week because the sketches shown were the old ones that SM:TV fans already have on the Chums/Best of SM:TV videos. Hopefully, in the next few weeks they'll show some rare but funny episodes of Chums, Dec Says, etc.
Also, I read on the CITV website that "Ripley and Scuff" will not be returning!!
I'm not surprised after, for the second run, they chucked out the funky ditty used in the first run on the titles. Deserve all they get for dumping that they do.
Well they didn't chuck it out, they replaced it with a rubbish version of the same theme. Kinda like "modernised it" if you like. Absolute arse.

I have the Chums video and it is very good, but I must have damaged the tape somehow, as I tried to play it and it nearly broke my Televideo, I think something came lose. But I hope it gets a DVD release, I can't be bothered buying it on Video again.
I never saw the other one, they never made a big fuss about it either, plus when I ever saw it in a shop it was something ridiculous like £13.99, but I remember when Ant and Dec gave an interview about it, they said it would get a DVD release but it never did.
Though as I said earlier I still have Ant and Dec's last ever SM:tv and CD:UK on video and it is superb. But ironically I was watching "It shouldn't happen to a children's TV presenter" on video earlier and they showed the clip of SM:tv from a while ago with the letters and the one about some kid's dad farting in the Biscuit Tin and people ate the biscuits out of the tin. But obviously they wet themselves over it and it was quite funny, but not that funny.
One of my faves was FArt Attack and Neil Buchannan actually appeared in one, which was very funny.
Dick & Dom won the first ratings battle, with 1.1m against SMTV's 800,000.
Its only week one. So hopefully more people will see sense within the next few weeks.
Agreed. I hope people were only watching D&D to see what it was like...
EDIT: http://www.itv.com/popidol/thehosts.stm says that Ant and Dec have their own production company, Ant & Dec Productions, which has made SMTV and CDUK since they began. That's wrong, isn't it? It's always been Granada, using the a new subsidary called Blaze, hasn't it?
Also, the SMTV replacement is to be made by Carlton - they make CITV anyway, so I wonder if that means it might just be a Saturday version of the normal CITV slots, with different presenters? What'll they call it anyway, CITV Saturday? (that'd be as unoriginal as The Saturday Show!)

Ant & Dec productions made SM:tv Live & cd:uk for most of the first year on air, the end cap had the words 'A zenith media group' at the bottom of the cap. Zenith are a media production group that are also responsible for Byker Grove. Towards the end of the first year, the end cap changed to a zenith media production. Shortly after they became blaze. I still believe this is a zenith media group.
The new show is to be produced by carlton & foundation. Carlton also own the London (weekday) and Westcountry regions, along with Central. Its Central (west) that make CiTV. Foundation is based at Kent, the old TVS studios (if i remeber correctly). So it will be connected through the fact that its the CiTV part of itv1's schedule, but thats about it.
Name the monkey was played last week also, as they had to tell swag that it was name the monkey, not swag the bag! They never seem to announce winners unless I miss them, or its a long competition. No swag the bag today
They still had the art attack signer, still dont know why they have one, or why no other show does.
The format of SM:tv really has changed quite a bit. A shame it's been axed. My thoughts at the moment are towards the new show - will it be something new or an SM:tv/Saturday Show clone?
From what they have said it sounds like an SM:tv/saturday show type show with guests, sketches, games, phone ins, and stuff.
From the original show the formula has really changed. The first shows were basically links in the cd:uk studio. They had a few little sketches such as the milkman, the big report with declan clarence obbadire tarzan trent donneley and random sketches after breaks. They didnt have many guests but just introduced people who were on cd:uk, like the honeyz played the game smitten kitten on the delta stage. And of course wonkey donkey. The rest was main up of links, comments, viewers interacting which at them times was only a fax machine (0171 737 8393) with the first ever fax being someone asking them to read it out on the telly to see if their fax machine is working properly.
Even though it was cheap and nothing compared to what it eventually became, it was original and different. It had all the elements of what an afternoon programme could be.
Compare that to the classic formula of citv bumper, sponser, titles, sketch/song, menu, welcome with guest line up and contact details, band, sketch, programme 1 part 1, sketch, adverts, game, programme 1 part 2, sketch, adverts, guests, programme 2 part 1, sofa, band, little sketch, adverts, guests, programme 2 part 2, sketch (usually chums), adverts, game (usually wonkey donkey), cduk menu, music video, thank guests, you know where its at, adverts, cd:uk.

Perhaps they've got to meet a quota. Zzap, which was classed as a show for deaf people seems to have been dropped.
Neil Buchanan made Zzap as well as Art Attack. Maybe there's a connection.
Zzap was dropped a couple of years back, I believe the only connection here is the fact that Mr Buchanan was in both programmes. Art Attack is, IIRC, a Scottish TV production (or at least accredited to them supposedly under the rule discussed in the "Channel TV & The ITC" thread) while Zzap was a Meridian production, or made by Media Merchants and assigned compliancy-wise to Meridian. I think Art Attack is also made by Media Merchants although I can't be sure.

Both art attack and ZZZAP! were made by media merchants, neil buchannan's (and someone else's) company that they recently sold for so many million to smg. Neil is also executive producer on art attack as he was on zzzap!.
You dont get to see the smg endcap, or scottish endcap. On art attack on CiTV and Disney Channel (art attack is shown round the world on Disney Channel) they tend to just show the media merchants endcap.
