ITV has confirmed that it will be launching a dedicated kids channel "within the next six months".
The as-yet untitled station will be available across all platforms, including Freeview, and is expected to timeshare with ITV4, the new male-oriented channel launching on November 1.
The broadcaster has been keen to enter the competitive children's multichannel market for some time. A joint venture with Nickelodeon was abandoned recently due to "legal complications".

Not really "breaking" now. There's a thread about it here already.
But how successful it is depends on how well they use their library of programmes and how many new programmes they commission.
Whether they match CBBC by providing Live programmes, and of course Live links. Personally I think it could be a good idea, especially if they do use old programmes to attract both new and old viewers.
Personally, I'd like to see presenter led slots, such as Breakfast, etc, rather than the CBBC formula of having random people everyday!
Work on the presentation and image of the channel and brand and try and gain viewers through cross promotion on ITV1, and spin off programmes (though there aren't many programmes that they can spin off, bar MoM and possibly cd:uk).
As long as they show vintage CiTV programmes as well as the stuff we have today i would watch it. They could have the presenters do links from the sets of CiTV programmes like MoM for a day or something!.

I'm not sure I'd like that idea, especially after they did the same last year.
I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
I presume that we wont have a tittervating of the graphics in September if they are launching a channel in November, I presume that they will relaunch then, as CBBC did.
It's got me thinking though, surely November 1st will be the week after half term. Very strange to launch a kids channel when kids are at school!
What the hell was MOM this morning? It was an hour long was there any point to it, last weeks was really good and it came out of the drop in quality that has been cursing it resently.
Also why don't they get real kids to do there quizzes?I cannot think of any reason they use actors and bad actors at that?
CiTV is shaping up to be pretty good this september new shows include:
Name that tone,
Planet Sketch,
A disney Tarzan cartoon,
New worst witch,
Tricky TV!
Around september:
NEW my parents are aliens,
shark infested custard (confirmed date in october, can´t remember what it is, its gonna be fridays at 4.30 though)
Finders keepers!
Plust returning stuff like: Captain Scarlet, The Giblet boys, Potatoes and dragons, mr. bean (shock horror!) and loads more!
