Unfortunately I woke at 11am today, but when i switched on I saw Chums, and I suddenly realised how fantastic it was and how great Ant, Dec and Cat were, now what suprised me was that they had a Live studio as well with presenters, I thought they were ditching that for SM:tv Gold, plus I don't know if this is new, but since when do they have the credits rolling at 11.25, I thought they did that after CD:UK?

(But suddenly afterwards I put on a tape which had Ant and Dec's last ever show and that was great too, great episode of Chums aswell.)

It makes you wonder, why did they change the format so much? I reckon it could have survived with only minor tweaks.

Due to the viewers loving ant & dec they will vote them every time. They should put non ant & dec things into a vote, such as casually, the vicar of dribbley and the catalogue girls, or big bother (brian, tess , h & claire era), eminemmerdale, table footballers wives and things.

The Catalogue Girls was good and Table Footballers Wives was ok I suppose but I hope the tapes of stuff like "SM:TV 2099 The Next Generation" and "Casually: The Clinic" or whatever it was called have been burnt along with the rest of James' era and Brian's early annoying era!

Really?! Some of the best Casually episodes were those with James in them! Sad

Personally, I thought Table Footballer's Wives was absolutely sh*te! I wouldn't want to see that back.... but the Casually episodes with H and Claire were my favourites. The producers always slipped in subtle things that mocked Steps which I found quite funny.

I quite liked H, Claire, Brian and Tess. I dont know what it was about H but he was just funny. It would have been nice if it was just H, but H came with Claire, though if it was just H it would have been like two puffs and a straight lass.

I thought Casually was a great sketch as it was supposed to be like casualty but always became an american hospital soap with the dramatic music, evil charcaters & stupid people.

The good thing about chums was the way that it was ant, dec & cat, they werent any characters, they were themselves in a fake surrounding.

The writing has started to get poorer as of late. The ant, dec & cat era of writers stuck around for a bit when the new lot took over. It seems of late that they are using anyone that they can get.

What changes in format were made?

They never made big breakfast style format changes (bar the change from the first few eps to the good period!), they have had guests, chats, bands, sketches and little talking bits linking items. I dont see when all of that changed.

Good to see pokemon back, im not a fan, but i'd prefer to see pokemon than another old ep of flinstones for a forth day!
Pokemon has been on GMTV, and only finished a couple of weeks ago. I hope I'm right about it being new episodes, which is what GMTV was showing.
Bah! Since they're showing Pokemon repeats, they could've started from the beginning! They definitely have the rights, as the episode they did show is from season one.

And since when did SMTV have it's own credits - especially as CDUK is still advertised as being part of SMTV when they announce the line-up. That's one positive thing then.

I think the reason for SM:tv's separate credits is that its now more than ever classed as two separate shows, at least before it was the same set with same presenters. The SM:tv GOLD credits credited Stephen, Des & Louise for hosting, Ant, Dec & Cat (due to their sketches being shown), and all of the writers that wrote for the live items and the sketches, so if they had combined the two like usual the credits at the end of cd:uk may have been longer than the closing performance!

If no body noticed CiTV started showing flinstones with the more familar 'Flinstones, meet the flinstones' tune.

They are later episodes though as they have gone onto the ones featuring pebbles and bam bam. And look better quality compared to the ones shown for the past few weeks.

I was only thinking this afternoon how the flinstones music on the eps last week could have been used for the presenters to talk over, much in the same way as CBBC do with Woody Woodpecker.

Dick & Dom won the first ratings battle, with 1.1m against SMTV's 800,000.

Yes and they even played The Flintstones' credits fully, wheras other shows had theirs squashed.

I think the lack of any continuity at all is really poor on a Monday, even an out of vision voiceover would be better than nothing

I still cant see why they cant use presenters links, its only the same as a continuity announcer except in vision.

They could easily get enough time if they did talk over the opening credits of the flinstones with programme details and contact details, and then use the end credits of all programmes with the credits using the ecp design with next captions over the presenters talking. They could use less promos and have next week trailers on a friday afternoon (where they have more time) to run through programmes for the week after.
With menus and next captions, no trailers for programmes on the same day would need to be used.

Alternatively they could do like diggit did, and diggin it do, and creat credits to run at the end of the programme and then cut off the actual credits.

They used to have three programmes running from 15:45 instead of 15:30, though some programmes were shorter and they didnt have advertisments in the middle of them, jsut at each end.

Its only week one. So hopefully more people will see sense within the next few weeks.
