I e-mailed the producers asking why there is hardly any, usually no song and if it would return. I also asked why they have no on screen 'what's on' menus and if these would return, along with the gunge tank/ thankyou desk at the end. This was about 3 weeks ago and they haven't replied, has anyone else e-mailed them and had replies

I think CD:UKs been going downhill since around 2002, but it's only really started to get bad since SM:TV was axed. I used to watch it regularly, but stopped around a February.
And the show could do with a revamp- it's been using the same graphics since Ant & Dec were still presenting!

Strange thing is the ratings have been between 700,000 and 900,000 ever since SM:tv finished - NOT since Cat left. So if this is true, its obvious ITV just like to threaten the axe after their star presenters have left!

Personally CD:UK has had it's day, the problem is many people to tend to still associate the show with Cat Deeley, as said it's still using the look it had when Ant and Dec were still on the show. When they launched MOM this would have been the right time for CD:UK to change it's image, to more of a teen/adult music show.
Also moving it out of the 11.30am Saturday slot doesn't help either. They should bring back The ITV Chart Show, no presenters, no acts, pure videos and dodgy graphics.

The Sun today claims CDUK will be axed if ratings don't improve. Since Cat left they've plummeted, as a result ITV have ordered a revamp, and the show will be re-launched in September with a 'fresh new look and new presenters'.

Why would anybody watch that in this era when there's about 6 channels on Sky that offer this 24 hours a day?

People who don't have access to Sky/Multichannel etc who want to watch Videos that aren't interrupted by pointless Text competitions and the Frog. It's only an idea Andrew, overall I am trying to say it would make more sense for ITV to put on something like that to gain viewers, as it costs less to produce.
