Yep - that L&K relaunch was good because it was a complete relaunch. Not just a few graphics changes and the odd new presenter.

Revamps can work, but IMO, they work better when it's a complete revamp rather than the odd change here and there.

SM:tv have never had a big relaunch. In sept 99 we had the new set & theme tune with ant, dec & cat; every year after the set stayed and them & graphics changed; titles were always the same! The basis of a show was always the same!

The biggest relaunch of sm:tv was march this year when we had two new presenters; a new set (even tho compared to L&K's set design, sm:tv is rubbish!); new music, new titles, and new sketches!

Tho Brian & tess were there and the show ended up being added to.

It really needs to feel like a new show under the sm:tv name.

Tho look at Live & Kicking; a new show under the old name; this didnt work; the big breakfast always went back to the original concept after trying others; and the original sm:tv concept cant be that bad if it got 2 million (varying on weeks); or was that down to ant. dec & cat?

May I just say that I enjoyed this mornings SM:tv LIVE. Stephen worked well with Tess, Shavaughan and Des; and the worms was great innuendo from Tess! This is what Saturday mornings should be like; give them a basic script on their clipboard's and get rid of the autocues and lets see how well they can improvise. Shavaughan and Des have done so in the past in sketches (Shavaughan regualarily does!) and Stephen said something about the wig on shavaughan today.

Still dont like POPBRAIN; its too formal for SM:tv; its not that entertaining and it takes up too much of the show! Why cant we have games back instead of constant ring to win?

The four worked well today; and if they worked well together and got a few good sketches or one offs, get some games going with characters involved, work on new ideas like this sick trick thing, give them more freedom and more air time for general banter and see how things go on from there.

when Ant & Dec were there its well known that they used to throw in ideas of stuff to do or sketches/ characters; i wonder if the current lot do them; if not i'd like to know what they could come up with.

Des is excellent with accents and characters; and even that thing with stephen at the start of the show shownt how good stephen can be too.
I'd lik eto see Des do something different with David Dustbinman; perhaps take him to real auctions or something!

One way they could get them bonding better would be to do like L&K did before the 2000 relaunch; and send them to an adventure place for a week to bond together doing activities. This certainly seemed to bond the L&K 2000 presenters better and therefore u could just have a freee running show; where the presenters banter and can do the show without any real script!

Here's my suggestion for a new Saturday:

0925 Angry Beavers (1 ep)
0940 Clueless
1005 Main show (the 0925-1130 slot moved on)
1205 Girls in Love
1230-1645 Afternoon shows (Ball, MG&V, etc)
1645 Goal Rush
1715 News
1735 CDUK
1835 B Date/Takeaway/Irwin/Framed etc
1935+ evening shows

The main morning shows could include comedy, chat, features, music, perhaps some narrative elements (think 73, P9 etc) and shows like Pokemon, Garfield, Dexter's Lab and maybe some new comedy (something like LOL or All That or Amanda Show from Nick could work).

The cartoon network shows were good as they could fit many shows into the same amount of time to make it look like they show more shows; even though they usually ended up with more time for LIVE links in between.

As this post title starts with citv; may i just say im impressed with todays show. Even though Kate is a stand in presenter shes got the talent to do it full time and works well with michael (not sure that her & leah have truly clicked yet!). They are using the CiTV garden and using the crew like good old days; referring to them by name; making them do angry beaver poses and getting two of the men to dress up like women and cheerlead! Well done to todays producer; using the links well which will help get back audiences thieved by CBBC on one.

Yeah. Theres no relationship between the shows and the links.

The only links that have been funny were the pre sabrina ones where des had to do a solo link into sabrina and never managed it.

They have good ideas such as David Dustbinman; etc; they just need to reuse them in other forms as Garbage Hunt is getting old; so is eminemmerdale (its actually the eminem element that i hate about it and the rapping; the actual yorkshire influences arent that bad; thats why i liked only fools and hogwash as it was clever to combine the two!)

How about Tess playing a posh women that goes around and helps fix catastrophies in a recorded part called 'caTESStrophy'; maybe not!

Back to CiTV and im confused at the last link Im sure they were trying to say that its Michael's last day tomorrow! I hope not; he is one of the best things to happen to CiTV in a long time. He is filming a new series of Jungle Run; so I hope its just his last day whilst he films this!

Wot do u mean by a CiTV reform, and a new CiTV image?

He is a great presenter and he used to do characters on the CBBC Breakfast Show which were great; perhaps he should bring these to CiTV (unless he is leaving!)

They said on CiTV a few weeks ago that he is going to be hosting the new series of jungle run and thats why they've got Kate McIntyre presenting.

He is doing Jungle Run as the previous two hosts Dominic Wood (now of course Dick & Dom in da bungalow) left to replaced by Chris Jarvis who is now on contract with CBeebies.
