Even though the voice was more gruff, was it still Dan Castellaneta doing the voice?

If you think that's weird, try listening to the genie's voice in Aladdin 2: Return Of Jafar and the Aladdin tv series. Castellaneta stepped in when Robin Williams pulled out. It's so strange listening to Homer Simpson's voice coming out of the genie's mouth!

I thought the Flintstones was a few decades old so I doubt Dan Castellaneta wouldn't of been involved at all. Unless I'm wrong?

Robin Williams didn't like Disney's treatment of him in terms of how much he should have got pay for the voicework. Basically, all the stars got a flat fee even though the animated film went onto make millions.

No, I meant was Dan still the voice of Homer when it was different?

Robin asked for a flat fee on the condition that the film wouldn't be billed as "STARRING ROBIN WILLIAMS", as he was promoting "Toys" at the time. Disney agreed but then went back on their word.

And the result was.... a genie with the voice of Homer Simpson in the sequel. Right click here for a sample

As far as I know... yes.

The Flintstones has been removed from SMTV - the replacement is Pokemon

Seems a bit like the Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries. For some reason SMTV pulled that after only 1 week.

It was, I saw an interview with him and he said the early Homer voice was harder for him to do, so he changed it.

Just going back briefly to the Flintstones...

Next time you watch the Flintstones, listen to the voice of Fred Flintstone and notice how it sounds to the original Homer Simpson voice when it was more gruff to the dopey voice we get nowadays.

Did they release a film with half of the voice by Robin, then Dan later? If so, Disney must be getting very lazy!

No, Robin refused to do The Return Of Jafar, and the TV series. It was only a direct-to-video sequel, and the animation was dodgy (sourced out to Japan and Australia). After Disney issued a public apology, he agreed to do the third movie "Aladdin & The King Of Thieves". Dan had already recorded the voice and half of the movie was already in the can, but they ditched Dan's recordings and redid the whole movie for Robin.

I'm finding the lack of presenters two days a week a bit poor, the afternoon just doesn't seem to flow. As they are short of time, I'd rather they put the credits on a plasma screen in the studio that you can hardly see rather than not having presenters at all

Good to see pokemon back, im not a fan, but i'd prefer to see pokemon than another old ep of flinstones for a forth day!
Pokemon has been on GMTV, and only finished a couple of weeks ago. I hope I'm right about it being new episodes, which is what GMTV was showing.

Actually, Return of Jafar was just several TV episodes spliced together and released on video. That's why Williams didn't do the Genie's voice. He returned for the third and final Aladdin film.

Half of that is true. It was originally planned to be the first 4/5 episodes of the TV series (although this was quite early on). However, Robin didn't do the voice due to his dispute with Disney.

I agree. Im hating non presenters. It doesnt flow at all. I think its more a case of their is nothing, at least when steve ryde die the voive over you had somebody to identify the show with, now it just seems to be programmes.

Hopefully we may have presenters this afternoon. Were their any at 3:30 or was it straight into the flinstones?

They cant really use the no time excuse as they have two you can do magic sections of 15 minutes and 10 minutes (last series was 7 minutes and 4 minutes approx.), and they also have a 22 minute (approx)sabrina billed in a 35 minute slot.

Looks like its no presenters again. This isnt how childrens tv should be done! I feel sorry with the kids that thing this is right!

And that last ident with the fireworks looked awful and was out of tune!

The first afternoon that they have been back together, and another part of the set, the vault door as used in the trailers for the new look, though it looks a bit rubbish just being there attached to the white backing, to use it to keep the prizes in would have been great, and a little friday ditty from michael, miming!

It sounds as though they have gone back to the people that did the old music, that also do the stuff for dick & dom in da bungalow!
