Interesting article. The least surprising part of it is that the ratings are well up on this time last year.
They seem to have found the ground that people like and it's different to SM:tv in the way that SM:tv was sketch led, MoM is more feature and game led. ITV may have another hit on their hands.
Well, I guess I'm one of those 14% of young adult viewers. As I said when I first posted on this thread, the first one I watched was the Christmas day edition of MoM and even though I've only been watching it since then, I've noticed that every week there has been an improvement and very often gets funnier each week.
I think having it on Christmas day helped, because the BBC put the Christmas Dick 'n' Dom In Da Bungalow on the CBBC channel, which meant those that didn't have it may have tuned into MoM instead. Or because it was Christmas day, just about everybody had the day off work and they could have seen it by chance. But I think possibly the fact of Dick 'n' Dom being on the CBBC channel could have helped allot.
As I said in one of my first posts I only caught MoM by chance and saw what they had on (Atomic Betty, MPAA, Ricky Gervais etc) and decided to watch it.
I also now think they should replace Pet Alien, it must have been shown too much if you ask me. I don't think it would be so bad if they hadn't shown it every day for the first month of this year, because after two weeks they eventually just got repeated too much, again. Like I've said before if you space things out it doesn't seem so bad, e.g. The repeats of Globo Loco and Atomic Betty are shown once a week, but like I've also said, I think they are good enough to be repeated. If they had done this with Pet Alien it wouldn't matter so much. I can live with Pet Alien on there, I'd rather stick with that then get a show that isn't very good.
As for this crate, CiTV have been mentioning it occasionally this week. I've only seen two mentions of it though. Well, we'll be finding out soon....

ITV Press Release :
ITV1’s flagship Saturday morning show, MOM, enjoyed a fantastic performance this week achieving its highest audience since its debut in January last year.
The programme delivered 370,000 Children viewing with a 24% share on Saturday, which is 8 points stronger than the average performance for the programme.
MOM has also seen an impressive improvement in viewing year-on-year. In the equivalent week last year MOM had attracted an average 15% share of Children’s viewing, which is 9 points below the performance this week.
It was not only this week that MOM witnessed a yearly rise in viewing. When looking across this year so far, the programme is claiming an additional 52,000 Children viewing each Saturday morning, and an extra 4 share points than it was in the same period in 2004.
MOM benefits from having wider audience appeal, especially among younger adult viewers. MOM has taken a 14% share for Adults 16-24 across this year.
Around three-quarters of Children now have access to Satellite and Cable stations, and as a result the kids market is an increasingly fragmented and competitive one.
Children now have the benefit of wider choice, including 19 dedicated channels as well as more time shift options and repeats. Despite this, MOM is still holding its ground well, and this week received an 18% share of Children’s viewing in Multi Channel Homes. This was enough to beat all competition from every other channels at that time.

It's the same font, just animated differently, but sorry I can't help. Maybe they made it themselves, especially as the font seems to be a mish mash of everything with the letters from the logo added in. I still don't like it and prefered the old font with the old ministry astons.

Yeah. They are repeating it too much. Hopefully they'll get new episodes of Atomic Betty soon (if they are going to get them at all). With all of the features and two new features arriving on saturday, they may decide to opt for a similar style as the first ever programme where they only had two 10 minute parts of tutenstein (remember that? looking back at old tapes, it wasn't actually that bad as a cartoon), and one ep of spongebob.
I wonder though how many of these ratings victories have to do with Captain Scarlet.
As for the show. It's good that ITV have put out that press release, especially seems as though the review of the year (the link posted not so long ago) said that even though it's a creative programme, the Ministry struggled with audiences.

I've been capturing random things, I'm still trying to get things down to respectable levels, but this is the pre MoM CiTV sting, that was used on shows 2 & 4.

The lightning bolt hits, and then becomes white, and the citv logo appears and pulls back etc. I presume that it's just the ministry who've shortened it.
They were all based on a programme in january last year, there was no generic ident, which was really sad.

I would have thought they'd get the new season of Atomic Betty, though I think they'll probably wait untill they've shown the first season in full, again. I think I heard somehwere that Cartoon Network UK are getting it soon I don't know when, so CiTV should get it soon after they do, hopefully.
Speaking of Atomic Betty. On Monday, the episodes they showed were on MoM near the start of the year and I remember somebody on the board, a month or two ago, saying that it seemed shorter. Well I think that person was right, because there was one extra scene in the episodes that wasn't on MoM, when they showed it. What was the point? They must have only saved about one minute or two, if that.
Well, I think we all know we won't find out what's in the box untill the end of the show, that way they may be able to keep viewers watching that might usually turn off, or keep a viewer that only watches it occasionally.
Actually, I never thought that Captain Scarlet could have helped. It really could have, because it was advertised allot on midweek CiTV and got a page or two in the Radio Times on the week of it's first episode. And because it's a show many older viewers will have seen they may have been intrigued to see what the new version was like.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before....
But I got my copy of the ITV Granada Programme Statement today and I couldn't help but notice that in the Introduction they mention that Quay Street is now home to all of ITV's Children Output and CiTV presentation!
When did they move from Central?
(A Copy is available in PDF format from the Regional Affairs section of ITV Granada's website)
