I can't be exact on dates or anything but when CBBC first started The Saturday Show, it was great, then after a while they put something else on, then it returned with a tottally new look, presenters and layout and it was all rubbish. If MoM changed and it turned out for the worse all those that wanted a change would be really disapointed and the ones who liked it how it was would be even more so. But as I said it looks like it's staying put for now.
I thought last weeks show was quite good, and this new game with the doc could be quite good.
I see what you mean. They don't need a major format change, maybe add a sketch or two and new items here and there, then update graphics, maybe possibly even get some titles, update the set, etc. It should evolve rather than be transformed.
Nothing happened to the Saturday Show between relaunches, it was on for 52 weeks (or there about) with Dani & Joe, and then in January the set and titles were updated in time for the launch of the CBBC Channel in Feb 2002, then Dani & Joe continued with the new set which was the balconey set with the audience on top as opposed to them in the tiered pods.
In September 2002 they changed and made the programme younger with Fearne Cotton & Simon Grant taking on the healm, and it payed off with them narrowly beating SM:tv some weeks.
Back to MoM, I do like the MoM's the word phrase, but the M.O.M seems strange. If anything they should stick with the name, and just call it M.O.M in some respects. For example The Big Breakfast was sometimes referred to as the BB, as is Big Brother, and Big Brother's Little Brother is referred to as BBLB, but the title of the show doesn't change.
Anyway, moving on again... good show, it seemed like everyone was just there to have fun on Saturday, which is how it should be, list the items and don't bother with a script, now that would be interesting!
I really am loving Mr Lee, he has potential to be a great new addition. It's a shame he isn't on for longer, maybe to tally the scores.
The only problem now that Michael's gone is that these 2 player games can't really work as they have to use a guest as a captain.
They should perhaps tie Double Trouble and Name That Tone as rounds within a big game, I'm think End of The Show Show styley now!
As for Toonattik, the new GMTV show from Feb 5th, from the trailer it looks as though they will also be using Carlton and Granada's part of GMTV for kids by using some of CiTV's acquistions such as Spongebob.
And Liam was back on Studio Disney today, whether this is a move for him, we can only find out.
