They definately need a better breed of guest, but like you said a show shouldn't depend on special guests to boost the ratings. But I feel that it would really help right now.

In my opinion good guests can carry a show that may otherwise be quite standard, even the musical guests can vary. Take Blue or McFly, you know you'll get a good Cakey Sk8, a bit of funny banter and laughs plus a good musical performance if you like that sort of thing. Then there's the Cheeky Girls, that seem to be on every other week. You get a dire song, dire chat, poor Cakey Sk8. Its practically worthless having them on at all.
The comedy guests have been the best. It's a pitty they can't get Ricky, Bradley or Joe on again!

Also good shows can add to the whole feel of the show. Anyone remember 'Becoming' on SMTV Live, That show pulled the entire programme downhill during the time it was on as it was totally irrelevant

Yeah I see what you both mean about guests. In the form that the show has taken guests can be good, and some of the boy bands have added some great moments, even if it was just for the programme when Duncan was hypnotised.

There are many great comedy acts that they could bring on. Do you remember Brian Conley on SM:tv, he was great, he even guest presented once, you would have thought it was an odd choice, but it worked quite well.

I'd totally forgot about Becoming on SM:tv until you mentioned it, it was most probably one of the worst mistakes that they made on the show. They knew the show was watched by teenagers and adults, but adding an MTV programme just cut out the kids that the show was really made for.

In that kind of way, the Ministry have never really made a mistake with a show. Even Tutenstein was ok as it was aimed at kids, maybe a bit too kiddish, who knows. Hopefully they won't make the mistake of getting a wierd programme on board. As long as they always stick with comedies it's ok.

I don't understand though why they put Pet Alien and Atomic Betty on within the first half an hour, I wonder whether people would prefer them to be spread out a bit with more items between. They actually have more going on between the two parts of Drake & Josh, though the cartoons have nothing to do with one another, very strange indeed.

I did notice that there were no sponsership bumpers, though I wouldn't have if you hadn't mentioned it. Maybe they're not going to relaunch just yet, because like you said, they would say something. Maybe they just need to finalise the deal with the new sponsor or are still preparing the new set or whatever. Or maybe they'll just spring it on us.

If it is like the Nesquick - Ambrosia Splat, then a week was left between the two sponsership deals (even though they had to cut off the Nesquick sponser at the top as it nearly played out), so maybe a new deal will start next week, or maybe they're not bothering (though that would be very strange).

As for surely they'd tell us, well they didn't in July, which was very odd. A new look should be publicised, as it may bring more people in, even if it's just for one week.

There's nothing really wrong with the current look at the moment. AS I've already said I just wouldn't mind the addition of titles (that would fill up a bit of time), and maybe a few alterations to the set every now and then. Like the garage door, they're using it like Finder's Keepers used their's just for the screen attached to it at the moment. I don't really see what it was for anyway, they've got the main door from scene dock that they could have entered from, plus it takes up far too much room.

I can only presume that Butthaven and other sketches were done on the other side of it, as surely the studio shouldn't look that much smaller.

Then there was Busted almost getting crushed in wardrobes, McFly almost getting whipped, Darius almost getting bitten in that fish tank. Double Trouble can be good as well, as long as it doesn't become samey.

Yes I do remember, and considering Brain Conley seems to be a bit out of favour at the moment he probably would go on MoM

The fact that nobody really wants to watch posh stereotypical americans get made over into someone obscure. Plus it was in 3 parts and went of forever. Very typical of MTV's whole line up really.

I hadn't thought that until you pointed it out but you are right, you could probably tune in to MoM 45 minutes late and you will have missed very little studio content

I have to admit that boy bands as guests can end up having some good laughs, even though that's really not my scene for music (I'm more into hard metal ) But the Cheeky Girls last week was a mistake aswell as Paul thingamybob (sorry can't remember his last name) they were rubbish.

Would more viewer interaction help? Because the only thing they really take part in is UFO, in Swing-Ray all they do is say what they want to win.

Actually the fact of Pet Alien and Atomic Betty in the first half hour is a good point, it feels like they're rushing. Maybe if they showed Pet Alien at the usal time then Atomic Betty about 10-20 minutes later than usual would help. Because then you won't have that loooong gap between Atomic Betty and Drake & Josh, where it tends to drag slightly. Though when Drake & Josh comes on I flip to a diff. channel or do something else 'till it's finished. But it still might help even the show out a bit more.

Pet Alien:Not too keen on really
Atomic Betty:Not sure!
Drake&Josh:Funny most the time
I think they should have Bounty Hamster and that's so raven. They're both funny and they could work quite well.

I take it the pun wasn't intended at the end there? Lol. Yeah Double Trouble does have it's good points, maybe that would be better if the viewers could have a go at it against Stephen, by phone or having them come to the studio specially. Though over the phone could produce difficulties.
I actually forgot that Race Ray has viewer interaction too, but I think 'over the phone' interaction would be better for those that can't find a way to go to these things.

On to Race Ray, was it someone on here who said they should keep the husky dogs? Racing with the dogs is much more entertaining than just running and dropping the DVD Player every week!

I don't understand why they do it in that way all within the first half an hour. In some ways it is as though they're getting rid of them to then get on with the main show, though perhaps it would be better if they used a bit of time in between to break things up a bit, and therefore they wouldn't need a lot of ideas to fill the other sections.

They could perhaps do sketches based upon the programmes, one of the best of the past few months was the one where Stephen was dressed as Atomic Betty and they made it look as if he was projected out of Holly's watch, nice idea, shame they didn't continue with it.

Though at least with yesturday's showing the best of At Home With the Mayhems, maybe that will have a bit of a rest.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more magic on the show myself. They've seemed to have steered away from getting Stephen to do magic, perhaps trying to show his other talents, but it would be nice to see just a few tricks now and then.

I wouldn't say it was a bad show, as it has perked up within the past few weeks with additions like Swing Ray and twists to Race Ray, maybe they could do with someone else to base ideas on.

I've always thought that the mailroom mayhem game on the MoM deluxe website would be a good game for TV, it would be like the Crystal Dome all over again.

Speaking of Mail, I'd like to see the return of a post item. The mail room on the old set was nice, and it created a few nice items like the wood shaped like instruments that people kept sending in for Michael to play.

There's so much that they could try out and if it doesn't work leave it out the next week.
That's the only way they will gain more viewers by trying things out.

Maybe they're just saving up ideas for a possible relaunch. Though as I keep saying, I hope it isn't major as it could ruin what they've done with the show to this point as it did in July. Just a new set and titles would be applicable in my mind.

Plus anyone else feel a better bed of music is needed for UFO, maybe even it's own theme Wonkey Donkey style?

Actually sketches on the current shows that continue with the particular show would work, spoofs are more often than not a great source for comedy. Maybe a short spoof sketch of Pet Alien or Atomic Betty each week would help, though a spoof of Atomic Betty would more likely be more funny than a Pet Alien spoof.

I can't really comment on the old MoM because as I said in one of my first posts the Xmas Day edition was the first one I've properly watched.

But yes magic tricks would also help boost the entertainment, especially if you include the special guest in on the trick (On the Xmas edition, when Stephen bent down infront of Ricky Gervais with the scewer [or whatever it was, I can't remember] it led for some great hidden 'gay' lines from Ricky) Maybe in the near future he'll be back on, many shows very often have a guest return. Infact have you seen the trailer for this new animated film about Pigeons or something? With Ricky providing one of the voices, maybe they'll get him back on to talk about the movie when it nears release.

That looks quite a good line-up although I'm not in favour of a new ending as I really like the MOM theme being played and the presenters dancing to it. I much preferred the older ending with the gunge tank as they could gunge the guests and a there was a longer song, I thought it rounded up the show.
Fingers crossed they have new (or old) titles, new set and a new line-up (like the one above) next week.

Just one thing tvguy, whats 'the soaky cokey' all about?

That's a game where a presenter's strapped to a thing and kids opossite the presenter are aswell. They get asked 5 questions each and the more questions they get right, the more prizes they win.The more prizes the presenter gets right, coke goes in a big thing above their heads!
The ones who gets all the questions wrong gets covered in Coke!If the presenter gets them all right,he or she gets one quid!
Anyway, the dance would still be there but there'd be something replacing the thankyou desk/gunge tank.

But back to the sponsorship thing, when the SMTV nesquik sponsor nearly got shown was there any of it shown?
