I expect the show will become simply M.O.M. Giving a show a theme show really restricts things, and if like the "ministry of mayhem" it doesn't work - your stuck. I doubt much (if anything) from the show as we know it now will make it into the new, supposedly "edgier" version. Everything about the show is all quite old-hat and naff.

Yup, I can see a new SM:tv to be honest...

I would like to see MoM and CD:UK team up. It would help both shows as it helped SM:TV get big guests as they'd perform on both shows (the only time this happenned with MoM was with Blue, and tey had toleave hafl way through). I can also see nearly everythng about the old MoM format being dropped to be honest. One thing I'm sure of is that Ray will almost certinally become more of a presenter than the secondary "character" he is now. We've seen this slowly happen recently as Ray's been used more. Hopefully this relaunch will really help MoM, as if it kept going the way it was, there's no way it would have lasted past 2005. I see SM:TV Mk II. It's a farmat they know works and certinally has more potential than te current format (though to be honest, since around June the producers themselves don't seem to have been totally sure on what MoM's
meant to be).

It's odd really that MoM will have had so many relaunches and title changes seeing as SM:TV never changed THAT much at all. They had two minor "relaunches" in September 1999 & March 2003, and minor twaeks were made to he titlemusic & set during tat time, but apart from that, the format never changed over 5 years. MoM have just not settled on a format at all (and the only feature that's stuck is Cakey Skate), hopefully this relaunch will settle it.

Also, are they going to do anything withthewebsite? It hasn't been updated in AGES!

BTW- one year today since SM:TV died Crying or Very sad

MOM and CD:UK team up? Hmmm Blaze would love that! Wink

I'd say if MOM come up with something massive NOW and NOT later they can save themselves and maybe even become a great show, but if not it'll be gone by June!

I very much doubt ITV would ever bring SM:tv back - its not something that happens too often (bringing back old hits), and ITV would'nt be too keen accepting defeat by running back to Blaze when times are bad!

Saying this, do you reckon Blaze would risk pitching a totally new format to them so soon after SM:tv ended? (Yes, I know its a year but in terms of shows since it, there's only being one!)

Oh yeah, it would be like borrowing the Ministry's presenter to present CD:UK whenever Cat was away (up until recently) Rolling Eyes Razz

Cat's presenting ' talent ' has never exactly been all that. Crap host's crap show. Always has been - even with Ant & Dec.

With TOTP going downhill, I wonder why ITV have never thought of doing a Christmas Day pre-The Queen edition of CD:UK, to show at 2pm?

Back to today and to note is that what is becoming a bit of a tradition at this time of year, CITV programming (basically just Best Friends and the pre-GMTV little kids stuff) is going out with standard ITV1 presentation, i.e. with an ITV1 ident before it and announcer introducing it, no DOG, full credits etc.

I have seen a promo for CiTV twice today with new Worst Witch and Rugrats from the 90's.

Yeah I've noticed this too.
I wouldn't mind if they'd have made a CiTV version like with the C swinging on covered in Christmas lights and crashing into the ITV1 logo. Surely it wouldn't have been that difficult for them to send it up to Birmingham or let them do something with it.

Though I also don't understand why they couldn't have just pre recorded some CiTV links, it's only the voice, or passed the CiTV animations onto London so that they would use the Christmas Animations and Dog but have the day's CA voicing over the links.

Though at least they are promoting 2004 this year, I don't remember them doing so last year, though most of the programmes seem to be continuing over from before Christmas, very strange when usually it's a totally new line up.

Plus we get the chance to see the New Worst Witch, even though it was promoted in September! From the trailers it does just look the same, except Miss Hardbroom is different, which is a terrible shame as I doubt the new one will come anywhere near what she brought to the role.

And whilst I'm in this thread, I'll be another one to say how good the Ministry was this week, whether this was down to Ricky Gervais (though he was the best guest I'd say), or whether it was down to them showing Atomic Betty, Pet Alien along with 2 episodes of MPAA, so everything felt rushed, but good in a way to give the show a good pace.

After Saturday's show, I wouldn't say that they'd need a relaunch, just more ideas along with the current ones to keep the show moving along well, and greater guests.

I wouldn't mind them changing the show as I always like a change, especially with new ideas (especially if it involves new titles, or even titles!), though I'm not that fond of the idea of simple calling it MoM.
For one, they'd have to change the theme tune, plus unlike SM:tv, cd:uk and L&K, the letters wouldn't have much of a meaning, and I'm also getting sick of shortening titles.

The actual idea of having a ministry isn't that bad as it's just a building where anything happens, and should.

At this point in the show, it isn't that bad, and nothing a few tweaks couldn't fix. But this is what they did in July, the show was getting to it's feet and discovering itself and then they went and changed everything.

I don't usually watch MOM, when I've watched it before it's been very poor, I'll sometimes watch Dick and Dom, but on Xmas morning I just happened to notice the opening credits to Atomic Betty, which is a great show, so I watched that. I didn't realise it was MOM until Atomic Betty finished, the only reason I watched the rest was to see if there was another Atomic Betty, plus I also noticed Ricky Gervais was going to be on. I have to honestly say MOM was very good this week (maybe only having 2 presenters helped??) But Ricky Gervais was hilarious (as always) and I was suprised he was on there (because it's aimed a younger viewers) the crowd didn't find him that funny, maybe because he was dissing the show a bit when he said "This is wrong. Kids watch something good like Blue Peter. Go on flip over to the BBC" My Parent's Are Aliens wasn't that great, the new series is the worst in my opinion, its' become a little bit too predictable.

I also wondered whether anybody knew whether CiTV will be showing Atomic Betty again. I saw an short ad for all the new cartoons they have on ciTV and I noticed Atomic Betty was there. I've looked in next weeks Radio Times and it's not listed, though there isn't any CiTV on Monday because of a bank holiday. So does anyone know if it will be on the Monday after? Or will it not even be shown?
