Is this new information or did forumers already know about the move of CiTV ?

Well we knew it was going to move and it wasn't really hard to work out where it was going to go - after all there's only four major places it could go to, one of which they're moving out of.

UK terrestrial ITV is moving the presentation department for kids strand CiTV from Birmingham to Manchester early next year according to UK press. ... Manchester was chosen because top-rating CiTV shows such as Girls in Love and Scary Sleepover are made there.

Well let's look at it this way: On-screen it couldn't possibly get any worse at Manchester than it already is under Birmingham.

Nick / ITV deal 'stalled'

In other news, the planned deal between Nickelodeon and CiTV has reportedly stalled as ITV awaits a decision from Ofcom about how much kids programming it is required to produce. Ofcom is not expected to make the decision until next year, though the number of obligatory hours is expected to be relaxed.

So that explains why everything changed in September then and we now have some hybrid presentation package that passes for CiTV - the previous deal fell through.

As for Ofcom - oh here we go, this'll be good whatever figure they come out with. Guaranteed to save money at ITV plc.

The joint-venture deal, originally slated to launch in September, was to see ITV invest in and cross-promote Nickelodeon programming for broadcast on both channels. An ITV rep today denied that the venture had stalled, saying that the channels are "still in talks."

"still in talks" is code for "we [ITV] want you [Nickelodeon] to do it but we don't want to pay you that much money", I reckon Smile

It would be nice for them to have a studio, surely there must at least one available at Granada Studios.
Or do they just have the main studio for Stars In Their Eyes, Celebs Under Pressure (even though this was moved to London for the last series I believe), and then Coronation Street sets?

Perhaps they may stay out of vision though, it's cheaper for ITV, and where CiTV is conserned, they couldn't really care.
If I were ofcom, I'd increase the hours just to put the wind up them.
They currently provide around 11 hours a week, where as CBeebies & CBBC on One & Two provide around 38 hours (from a rough calculation). I know one is publicly funded, but it's still no reason for Ofcom to get rid of hours, we could end up going back to an hour a day.

As for MoM, has someone suggested that they will have Christmas Dec's up now? Dick & Dom were the equivalant of a week Saturday, with SM:tv the week after, though of course MoM may be different of course.
But chances are that it will be normal for this week maybe the next couple.

I'm hoping that they may go whole hog with the theme tune and have bells and things over it (or completely different like SM:tv's extremely high 1999-2000 version!).

Maybe they'll add a santa hat to the ministry building, who knows!
Personally I'd like to see the old titles with falling snow added over the city, and still falling, though I doubt we have any hope of titles.

Maybe they'll surprise us all and fill the studio with fake snow, have a massive tree and Christmas features, maybe even have the Christmas Day show in smart wear, i.e. Suits and a dress like the old Live & Kicking Christmas Specials.

God to hear. I hope they do go back in vision, though chances are that they'll get their hours shortened, cut the budget, and then eventually have a similar form of CiTV now from London done by the usual announcers.

They should be building themselves up and making themselves bigger and better, where as since September, the number of imports has increased due to a high turnover in the 3:30 slot, though the number of new programmes has increased mainly as they've only commissioned a few eps per series (bar MPAA), and have gone of vision!

I do hope that the team move up to manchester, it isn't that far, just a trip up the M6, especially the animation/graphics department that have been ahead of their game for as long as I can remember, from endless animations during the 1993-98 period and then the graphic relaunches/refreshes every September.

Here's hoping anyway.

CiTV presentation department moves to Manchester
UK terrestrial ITV is moving the presentation department for kids strand CiTV from Birmingham to Manchester early next year according to UK press. The move will relocate 20 jobs and mean the end of network production at ITV Central. Staff who produce the links are understood to be in discussions with bosses about whether to move to Manchester or whether to leave ITV. Most staff work in graphics or animation. Manchester was chosen because top-rating CiTV shows such as Girls in Love and Scary Sleepover are made there. The move will build on more than 20 hours of kids programming scheduled for Granada Manchester next year. The CiTV presentation department now comes under Granada executive John Whiston who is based in Leeds and Manchester.

Well, Central's had its heart ripped out already, and now it's about to lose its inner child...

Indeed, it is a sad loss to Central. Technically speaking hasn't it always come from Birmingham? As when Stonewall took over didn't they still use the Central Studios to broadcast from, well the central gallery and toilets, etc?

Don't forget that the BBC uses the sets too, Question Of Sport is filmed at Quay Street, I also believe that Max and Paddy might have been filmed there, as they filmed the first 2 series of Phoenix Nights there. Though I wouldn't see any problem fitting CiTV in, as I believe the studios are under used, as they were planning to update them or rebuild them, but for now the plans have been shelved apparently.

They may aswell make use out of them. Plus there must be a fairly smallish studio for them to use if they wanted to.

Also they're moving Children's to Manchester ahead of the BBC's plans.
