What did everyone else think about the way CITV started today?

It began with a 'generic' ITV1 logo which was sprung up into the air and turned into the CITV logo.

As good as it was im sure people watching in Wales, Scotland and Ireland wouldntve have been too impressed seeing this ITV1 branding on CITV! Surely this is ITV Network Centre having a bash at the remaining channels to adopt the ITV1 branding?

This afternoon? It started at the top of the new look on monday. Its good how theyve got the itv1 logo as its as though itv1 is breaking transmittion for CiTV, and with the break bumpers/flashes its as though they are now!

I wonder if there are national variations, I wouldnt expect so as its all controlled from one across the country, but you never know!

Well why wasnt it noted on the forum????????????

Im sure this is a very IMPORTANT piece of information and i cannot believe that no-one else has bothered to post such an important event like this!

PS why isnt it called CITV1? btw

Surely Scottish and UTV must be a bit peeved by having a generic ITV1 logo on their screens?

believe the last full time puppet was scally the dog, as shortly after that (after the stint by tommy & glenn) came the CiTV town. Though they have had weekly stints by sooty and co and roland rat and friends guested with Leah at the start of the year.

Not really the same thing as Scally presenting though, although I do have to be honest, I don't think any presenting puppet comes close to Otis the Aardvark on CBBC. Especially not that Emlyn the Gremlin who is now clearly extinct. There is a God after all Smile

Still unsure about the studio. They have got too tight angles at the moment. Hopefully they will free them. The way it looks is that they have built different sections of the set for presenting from. Still a bit plain for me. At least in the old white studio we had the CiTV massive logos and the character 2D cut outs for colour (and the purple & orange/red & blue tiled carpets).

Seems to me that the set wasn't completed in time and now they're having to "hide" it as it were with all these tight-up shots. And as it's still in 4:3 as well, looks even tighter. Still, lesser of two evils I suppose - go 4:3 and show widescreen stuff in 14:9 letterbox, or go the CBBC route.

Compared to the old use of charcaters like the oval characters and the bouncing letters, this look, looks a bit soft. Though it is going for a whole different look since the logo was introduced.

Shame really, I liked it where the C, I, T, V all had their own personalities and voices and things. Still at least they're keeping the main essence of the logo that they started using in 1998 when it came out of the disembodied voice era and back into in-vision. It's not a bad logo really, it hasn't really changed *that* much since the original design in 1991. Okay its changed colour and font and size and stuff but it's still essentially the same logo when it comes down to it.

I really don't think they care that much. They are part of the ITV1 network remember, however they want to brand their region

First of all Ohwhatanight I did mention it as i said about it having the roller blind effect. No one must have picked up on it!

I liked today how they blocked up the beyond with the plasmas so u could see abouve and below but not actually the bit beyond. I liked how they used the last set of animations with the letters that came together to form the logo. This is the least impressive way of using the logo, we've had the oval being the main feature and becoming things, then we had the letters being main point, but now its just the logo being animated.

Maybe one day we will see a wide shot of the new set. With all the corner sticking out like we can see it reminds me of the crystal maze! Perhaps we will see more of it after the weekend, two days can do it surely. They have from 6:30, 7pm if u give central news time to exit, until monday morning so that rehersals can take place. If they are going to dod anything, I expect they will in this period.

ALSO BTW. The reason they are not known as CiTV 1 is that there isnt a CiTV 2 section of programming. There were a few when itv2 launched, hopefully there will be soon.CiTV on itv1 needs to get their reputation up and audiences, therefore itv2 will see a profit and may buy it.

I dont understand with itv2 afternoon style shows on itv1 between 5 & 6 why CiTV dont transfer to itv2 for 2 hours. It would be great for CiTV. And if that's popular they may re visit the idea of a CiTV channel.

She isnt new. She's Anna, she's been on for the past 5 weeks or so. She started as a guest presenter like Kate McIntyre was from the big bang, she was there to promote her new series 'Rescue Robots', the last episode is tomorrow, so I dont know whether they are keeping her or not!

Also they have stopped using the name captions at the start of the afternoon to tell you who they are.

I wonder where Leah is as Micheal yesturday said that she was on today!?

Ah, thought the face looked familiar, but as you say, I was expecting Leah following what Michael said yesterday. The set doesn't seem to have got any bigger does it ? Confused

They gradually seem to be moving along the set. I dont think they will be making changes until the weekend if they do make any at all. I would just like to see a v. long shot of the whole studio, I dont like alll of these tight shots.

Moving away from CITV and on to SMTV for a minute, apparently, if TV listings sites are to be believed, SMTV Gold starts on 20th September! I really can't wait! That will make this Saturday's show the last normal show!

That''ll be right as the winter period of Saturday morning shows generally start in late September. It's also the date when Dick and Dom in da Bungalow starts on BBC1
