Loving bag the swag, and a number jingle, not so much in tune as they used to be, plus we may have seen a bit more of the set, it seems michael was on the left all along. Couldnt quite make out what was on the right as the plasma's were in the way. A puppet back to CiTV, this may be an improvement after all!
We're now in last year's MPAA's with the laughter track added!
Well I dont know. Some of the storylines are ok, though the first Sophie was best with her voice and thick acting routine. The current Sophie has been in the last 3 series hasnt she?
Michael said goodbye on today's Mild Green CITV, and Leah will be there tomorrow. It seems things are getting back to normal.
If the last two notes of the new CiTV tune were swapped with each other it would be the fairy liquid one. Perhaps this is where they got it from!
I hope both Michael & Leah are on. Though the way he said that "SHE will have this guy (holding up spongebob toy) spongebob squarepants and jimmy neutron too" gives me the impression that its just her on her own. They do need more presenters. If anybody's off on CBBC they just call on one of their many substitues.
Still not sure about the new studio. I think it's the lack of colour I dont like! And the fact that it looks tiny, whether its supposed to or not. If you have a big space you dont try and make it look smaller!
Very surprised to see in-vision signing on Art Attack...
I saw more blue in the CITV set today, which is good, although I'm sure that on-screen DOG is bigger than it was yesterday.
As for MPAA - the one shown today is from the 4th series with the canned laughter track. It's the second series which stars the non blonde Sophie (the actress has some unmemorable name) so I suppose she'll turn up in the new 5th series that comes to CITV, I think, next month after these from Series 4 run out. I wouldn't say its inferior as such, although matter of opinion of course.

When was the last time we had a puppet on CiTV? Or do we have to go all the way back to 1989 (the so-called Stonewall years) and Scally the dog to answer that question?

Well it's okay for CBBC as they could just nick somebody off the CBBC channel to fill in instead. CiTV have, for as long as I can remember at least, mostly had only two "main" presenters. I mean, look back: 1987 was two-headed: Gary Terzza and Debbie Shore as was 1989: Jerry Foulkes and I suppose Scally counts as well. Then Clive Warren got involved when Jerry left. Then Jeanne Downs. 1991 saw Tommy Boyd and Glen Kinsey on solo presentation ala yesterday and today.
1998 saw only two new presenters again, Stephen and Danielle. Tom and Andrea were added in 2000. She lasted six months, Tom disappeared last year sometime. There was another guy as well who came onto CiTV presenting wise along with Leah (not Michael, the other guy) but he's vanished as well.
CITV never was good at retaining anybody for presenting for more than about 30 months tops, were they?
The shots today were extremely tight and close up which was very annoying. The large DOG is annoying too and the CiTV animations and breakbumpers are awful.
The new set DOES, however, look promising (but still not too sure about having puppets...). I find it annoying that they have widescreen plasmas yet still broadcast in 4:3! Grr.
As for 'My Parents are Aliens' - the laughter track totally ruins the show and the new Sophie is not as good (but is getting better as the various series progress).
It was the acting thick of the first sophie and the high voice that did it for me.
I believe the last full time puppet was scally the dog, as shortly after that (after the stint by tommy & glenn) came the CiTV town. Though they have had weekly stints by sooty and co and roland rat and friends guested with Leah at the start of the year. Though nice to see the singing number make a return, even if its written on card and not sung to tune, but nice to see it back!
Still unsure about the studio. They have got too tight angles at the moment. Hopefully they will free them. The way it looks is that they have built different sections of the set for presenting from. Still a bit plain for me. At least in the old white studio we had the CiTV massive logos and the character 2D cut outs for colour (and the purple & orange/red & blue tiled carpets).
Compared to the old use of charcaters like the oval characters and the bouncing letters, this look, looks a bit soft. Though it is going for a whole different look since the logo was introduced.
They are still having too many ads, but I suppose they need to to finance.
The good thing about today is that art attack is only 20 mins and is billed within a 30 minute slot, whilst they have been showing 3 25 minute shows. Tomorrow they have two 20 mins with spongebob and jimmy neutron, so may see longer links, hopefully more of the set!
Heres a few quick screenshots of the new set from todays CITV. I don't dislike the new set, it's very clean and clinical, just not nearly as vibrant and busy as the one before.
They need to do a wider shot so that we can get a good look at it, their seems to be the kind of raised area with the walls and then just a blank area where the presenter stands around the plasmas. It does seem significantly smaller than the old set. Are they still utilising the space opposite the Central News set ? Maybe, they are planning to make changes on Central News so have reduced CITV's bit of the set.
