What do you think they'll do for christmas identwise? It could zoom on a christmas tree and fly up and at the top there'd be a star, which the letters could fall on and it could spin round to make the citv logo.

They did flying up the christmas tree 1998, 99, 2000 and 2001, though they could always do it differently.

I'd like to see something magical, though they aren't putting in any effort lately, so I'm not expecting much at all. Hopefully it will be better than last year, even if they re-use a christmas theme from 98-03.
I'd like to see a fairy flying around houses of the characters, and lighting up the streets as she goes though this would have been more suited to last year when idents and animations were based around the characters.

Maybe they could use the idea, flying through a snowy Birmingham, and lighting up that, then either...
-using her powers to transform Gas Street (through a magic explosion) into the CiTV logo.
-Or flying around a Christmas Tree, maybe one at Gas Street (in the dark), flying around it to light it up and then making a CiTV logo appear on the top of the tree made from fairy dust, maybe even using the 98-01 idea of having the logo being an angel.

It sounds magical to me. If the graphics team were up to doing it. It would give them something to do (if they're still there), it would just require filming a sequence at night and adding either the decorations and fairy, or film it in late november when the decs are up and have them light them up and then round the tree (though this might be a bit of work for a couple of weeks).

Then they could have the fairy on screen, flying around and making things like the menu's appear. It would be even better if they had a studio though. Curses ITV!

Hopefully you know that it means decorations and were just joking.

Last years were rubbish in my opinion, they didn't some up christmas for me. They were ok for what they were, but could have been so much better, especially if they'd been bothered to add on a christmas CiTV theme.
The amount of musicians that there are out there and they can't get anyone!

The ones from 2002 with the CiTV bouncing letters in the snow and becoming Santa and his reindeer were very nice, and even the ones from 2001, even though they were rubbish animation they were nice with the presenters as elves and fairies!

Remember the stars that ITV1 tacked onto their idents for Christmas 2002? I would not be at all surprised if CiTV just used their normal idents and stuck a few of those stars flying on top of it. Complete with daft pleb who goes "yo ho ho" in that patronising tone. Spend £38m annually on children's programmes do ITV? God, it shows.

ANYTHING would be better than what they have now, I sense deja-vu 1993-1998 only on a much worse scale with ECPs all over the place. Quite frankly I would like Nickelodeon to win the contract to provide Children's ITV - things can't possibly get any worse.

Does anyone have any caps of the original nick studio?.

If you go into the 10 years of Nick section on Nickelodeon's official website there's some screengrabs from the early days.
They were on their 4th set by the time I stopped watching in 1998. I wonder how many they've had in total.
....

Anyway, moving on to this morning's MoM. Notice that dispite Stephen saying 'you've already heard the guys perform the Ministry theme tune' we technically hadn't as all we got was the Noise Next Door pretending to play guitars and miming whilst the usual 'TV Remix' was playing. This must surely mean they'll never perform Ministry of Mayhem live on TV as they are hardly going to do it on TOTP Saturday or Popworld are they!
This also meant the Doctor was removed from his usual spot on the drums. The Doctor was on top form today and the show overall wasn't that bad.

Notice on My Parents are Aliens that CJ has been added to the opening titles. I personally think the likes of Trent, Frankie and Pete have more rights to get on the opening titles myself what with them being in MPAA right from Series 1 and/or 2.

I notice that they are making more use of phone-ins. There was a 'What happened next competition' featuring Stephen during the rehearsals. Then they had someone on the phone during CakeySk8 (or however they spell it). Also another phone it for there 'Take-it-away' competition. I didn't see much after this but it seems that they are trying to get more viewer interaction into the show.

Going off-topic I had to laugh a bit at the ending to this Saturday's Dick & Dom. They were all 'dead' after a murder mystery type creamy muck muck, and the ending relied on an answer phone for 'the almighty kid' and a lot of camera work & offscreen crew members. Not the usual chaotic ending but it was amusing to watch.

I actually missed a fair bit of MoM today. I didn't wake up until around half 9, and then I went out just after 10:30. Then again, I doubt I missed much.

A bit different to previous weeks, a step in the right direction at least. Not there yet mind you.

I did think it was really stupid that The Noise Next Door mimed to the ordinary MOM song, they don't even sing it!!!! (atleast, i don't think so). Why didn't they do their version or the song? (they could have cut it to fit in with the show).
Anyway, no Buthaven this week, it did get really crap by the end though so it doesn't really matter, although I would have liked to see a proper end to it with them quitting or something.
They had loads of Interactive games this morning which was much much better and I liked the way they surprised Stephen before MPAA with his real parents, that was good.
Lastly, I think tehy have done away with the gunge tank at the end and go with the "ThankYou Desk" as they only play the short ong at the end now. I don't like that very much as now the Celebs won't get gunged, just the presenters.

MOM Today: 8/10

I don't remember the stars. In 2002 they had the bouncing letters, they just added snowflakes to the start up, but had specially made break stings and promo animations. In 2001, they had a 2D cartoon of the 4 presenters in a factory as I said before, where the CiTV logo poped out of the present, perhaps this is what you're on about!
