Slightly wrong. The period 1989-1991 it was contracted out to a third party, Stonewall Productions who used Central's facilities but it came back to Central full stop in 1991 and that's where it stays.
http://freespace.virgin.net/greg.taylor1/watched_it/citv.html - apparently it was nothing to do with the IBA - it was an internal ITV thing that didn't get off the air until the late 1970s and even then it was regional with source material coming from ATV. Children's ITV as we know it today on a fully networked basis didn't start until 1987. See the link.
Hmm, that'll teach me to get my facts right! Thanks for the info.

Since the dawn of CiTV, I believe, Central has had the responsibility of producing and maintaining it.

Why did the IBA choose them over, say, Thames?

Good news, maybe. It gives them a chance to really ush the show now as they will be continuing. I know they've had countless relaunches, but they ned to focus on getting some quality Saturday Morning-ness into it.
They seem to have lost their viewer relationship, where are all of the phone in games?
Why does the current set look nothing like the ministry like the old one did and smaller (and more suitable for cd:uk)?
Why is Butthaven the only big sketch?
Where did the postal item go?
Why is it now back to being very scripted?
And why on earth have they still not got titles???
The singing doesn't work and it just looks stupid them dancing there. Bring back the original titles and add the new animation onto the end of it!
In some ways it had become a really strong show on the old set, that was big spacious, and greta for the show, as it screamed mayhem, not cd:uk.
If only I could get my hands on that show!

Not much difference between the two. The ratings are still disatrously lower than SM:TV was getting when it was axed. In fact, the two shows combined probabally are.

mmm maybe - cd:uk has suffered terribly since the loss of it too.
But as Greg told us earlier in the thread, its being commissioned through 2005!

And I do still think ITV sould bring SM:TV back if they just cannot get MoM to work. It's still the best format since Tiswas.
