Talking about the presenters, I've got nothing against Andy personally, especially after he mentioned 'Yorkshire Television' on Monday its just I don't think he's working out on CITV. He should go back to being a continuity announcer.

I have to agree with you there Andrew about Andy. Nothing against him, but I just find him a bit too chilled out, and mellow for CiTV, it must have been all of that white on the set.

I don't think he's nervous, or indeed a bad presenter, I just think that he's the wrong presenter for live links. Even though they're nothing like they used to be anyway!
Better than Tim from last year, but nothing like Stephen, Michael, Tom or even David!

Also it's interesting they are using these new trailers already, do they normally do that kind of thing? isn't it standard practice to make two versions of everything, one in the old style and then one in the new style

This happened last year too. In Alien Week, not only were they trailing the camera going towards the vault and then the characters coming out, but they had new programme trailers with the ripped paper aston.

Previous years they've used the old style, or just left promos all together, except for programmes that week with all of the new programmes being listed in the new season trailers.

1998 - Featured words beginning with C - thus that monitor display 98-99.
1999 - The ones featuring the new blue background (or yellow for tots), with the it's a (noise with animation) kindathing (which was then used in the promos). 99 was also the introduction of the Voice over man, rather than Stephen & Dannielle doing them.

2000 - strangely, I don't actually remember them. There weren't many changes, they changed the characters on the set (thebig inflatable ones), and changed the right hand side to blue instead of yellow as Telly Tots started in Sept 2000.

2001 - featured a cinema and kids watching a trailer for the new season (as in a pre film trailer).

2002 -was a load of TV's with bouncing letters spelling autumn ( not the CiTV bouncing letters), though it was the same style, these were not used until October 2002.

2003 - they used the vault with the camera getting closer each day, and then they all burst out on the friday before

2004 - In my opinion the worst yet with the flying carpet. I hope this isn't what presentation will look like in Sept, it looks very much like their christmas graphics at the end, except white, not coloured.
Yet the end caps of the promos are totally different.

Very strange, and intriguing.

A NON CITV/MOM POINT
I just didn't want to start a new thread.
But it was Michelle's last day on Nickelodeon today, along with their director of 7 years!
But she said something interesting in the fact that she said Nick won't be here for the next couple of months (Yes, Months!!!)!

I presume that she means that the Nick L8R element of Live Nick won't be on air for a couple of months, rather than the whole channel and network!

I'm thinking that this will be the move to Leicester Square, as it was stated that there would be additional studios for Nickelodeon.
But would that take a couple of months?
Couldn't they get Leicester Square studio ready and then just switch?

Is that same voiceover man still there? I always thought he sounded like an older version of Steven Ryde, and also like the original "Chums" voiceover man.

Yeah, he's the bloke that does the voiceovers on the promos, granted he hasn't been doing them recently and hasn't done any of the new ones.
He also does many voiceovers for nickelodeon, and usually the sugar puffs adverts with the honey monster.

Is the Chums voice over man we're talking about the one with the funny voice who did the re-cap sometimes at the beginning of chums?.

Yup - he's now the Exec Producer of Studio Disney!

I alaways prefered it when it was Ant, Dec & Cat doing the Chums voiceovers. I also prefered the "Chums is sponsored by....." Yo the "Chums is filmed" introductions.

Does anyone remember that sketch on SM:TV called "Decky Springer", I laughed so loud at that sketch, I had to get some water for my throat.

Oh yeah, that was a great sketch.
Even though nothing was going on, they did this idea in an episode of one of the S Club Series to get publicity.
Dec's impression was top notch though!

Look's like it's back to the 1993 days, we have new idents but based around the old one's where every show has them. Also we have a voiceover who is not Andy so looks like we could be going back to no presenters.

Are you sure it's not just like this because of bank holiday? No studio, presumably no links recorded in advance, all they can do is voiceovers.

Yeah I considered that possibility too. Although considering the way CiTV has been for the past year who knows. There were several new 'idents' today though that looked as if they had been created for voiceovers (no loud noise/music).

I read somewhere the other day that ITV were keen to be allowed to reduce the ammount religious, arts and children's programmes in the run-up to the terrestrial switch off. Maybe this is just the start of a long death for CiTV?

Yes the fact that there were new silent stings which are suitable for a voiceover does make out of vision more likely.

I wonder, how many times did they show that 'Change of scene' flying carpet trailer this morning, it was made worse by the fact that GMTV showed it just before they went off air and it was the first trailer CITV showed as they came on air!

Oh and it was the 'dropped dinner' episode of Art Attack as well, try it yourself and I can guarantee it won't look anywhere as good as Neil's did!
