I think that this is from September 2000 as they have the Crab and Spaceship and the blue area on the right. Where as when new in January 2000 they had the Spider and the Teddy Bear with the right area yellow for the tots part of the show (from September 2000 it was Telly Tots).
Then in Sept 2001 they had a darker blue on the graphics and back curtain and the big mobile phone and laptop computer to advertise the text number and web address. I think that this was also when they got rid of the yellow desk in favour of those taller desks.
DJ Dave posted:
i mean look at that and then look at todays studio.
Not the best photo of it i know, but you get the idea.

Indeed. Though really what were the set designers to do especially when looking at the graphics package.
They could have kept the old set and added a white curtain and have everywhere else coloured, and loads of massive new logos, perhaps big foam ones that they could sit on, and keep the big screen. That was the bad mistake that they made getting rid of the big screen.
The thing about that studio was that it had many areas for the presenters to go and use and added variety, even the rubbishy 2002 look had a better set as they altered the old one (though the metal was a bit too heavy for childrens! I think somebody forgot what the C stood for), a bit like now, they seem to think that it's all a tots programme.
I don't understand their reasoning for aiming at 3-10 yr olds.
If you make a good programme you could aim at 3-100 yrs old, if you make a programme to suit a particular age group, you cut off part of your old audience and then loose ratings, something that ITV has enough trouble with.
It's a shame that they can't either hire or buy an old warehouse or shop somewhere in Birmingham to present from.
Though they could always do the old 'T4' thing of doing links around the building, just have a few bits of set like massive logos, the plasma screens and a sofa or couple of chairs and you've got you're moving studio. It still isn't as good as the big studio, but it's a start.
It's just horrible that they progressed with the studios up until the biggest they've ever had, and now because of ITV they've had to stop.
I don't blame the team at Central, I blame ITV, and the management.
If that present team went independant it would be great for them with them given the chance to choose what shows go into production rather than being told what to do and what to show.
Maybe one day we will have a better CiTV, I'll fight for it!
Why not a network of their own channels with their own studios, the biggest childrens producers in Europe, or something like that.
Maybe one day!
Well today, Andy and Laura didn't pop up until 3.55pm, due to an extended young kids section, they did a quick link from the lounge, said that there was an exciting line up today and it starts with this.
Then at 4.20pm, Andy was in Josh's bedroom and he pointed out that there is now a bunk bed in his room, and some belongings that don't seem to be Josh's, so that sounds interesting. Then it was time for Let's Roll with Roland Butter (oh dear!), later Laura was in the girl's bedroom.
After no time at all it was time for them to go, Andy generically said that there would be more of the great programmes 'you've come to expect from CITV' tommorow. Make your own gags at that point!

Bunk beds indeed. This could be to do with that kid with Brian on the new season trailer (that's the worse new season trailer CiTV have made, I think!).
He looks a bit like Howie, though I don't think it is the actor, they may be adding him into it though, and just forgot to put him into the last series.
I've added my own jokes. The few programmes that we have seen for the new season look ok, and it looks as though we may have something independant everyday of the week.
Perhaps:
My Parents Are Aliens - Monday
Scary Sleepover - Tuesday
My Life As a Popat - Wednesday
The Worst Witch - Thursday
But what about friday? This may be totally wrong, but I'm just guessing.
I'd love for them to have something live on again. Something mad taking you into the weekend like Mad For It.
I was watching CiTV's 20th Birthday Bash, and when going through the 90's leah said, and in the late 90's everything went Live.
Why isn't it still live?
Mad for it was a great show, Top 10 was a great show, even that S Club TV thing on a Sunday morning was ok (perhaps under a different name!).
I still like the idea of a news show to combat news round except 10 minutes earlier, i think it would work well. Perhaps start it up with ITN and get on board a ex producer of newsround, or maybe even consult old presenters like Chris Rogers!
It may be what CiTV needs to try and go forward.
The then exec said that CiTV was about Fun after school thus why they had presenters doing sketches and things, and this was only the start of last year!
I say... get a studio
sort out the package (u can view my new Citv logo in the mocks btw)
sort out the actual links, make the set of links a programme in itself
sort of presenter - viewer interactive link thats disapeared
think about a news programme, may be easy to set up
go back to more things live
Perhaps set up a audience board who tell CiTV what they want to see, what they think, and what's going on (there are enough people on the CiTV pinboards that do this already!
I think MOM needs sending to bed and CD:UK needs the axe too.
Then ITV needs a brand new show:
-- Aimed at a broad audience, from 7-14 I'd say.
-- Live audience.
-- Celebrity guests and interviews.
-- Features such as movies, TV, music reviews.
-- Games like "Challenge Ant", involving public.
-- Including an integrated chart show with the latest music news, videos and perfomences.
-- Minimal scripting.
-- Comical sketches and decent competitions.
-- No cartoons
It would be ideal for them to buy a share of GMTV and get it started at 9AM to avoid viewers choosing the opposition, but if not, 9:25-12:30.
It needs the appeal that T4 has, but that can stretch to appeal to all audiences successfully.
Think about it "Ministry of Mayhem" is not going to be something anyone over 12 is going to want to talk about with their mates.
It needs to be modern, fresh, and cutting-edge to stay ahead.

You've just described T4 with sketches.
I talk about the Ministry of Mayhem and I'm a bit past 12.
The ministry going to a lot of effort, and I'm liking it. It could always do with being better, but i don't think something cool with Movies, and TV reviews will work, remember what happened to the 'Cool' live and kicking relaunch of 2000? It never came back!
There shouldn't be an age range, it should just be a general show that appeals to everyone.
I doubt that Ant & Dec sit there with producers planning Saturday Night Takeaway saying we're going to aim at...
The audience are always live, I haven't seen anyone dead in there yet anyway!
Movies and TV reviews wouldn't interest kids, wouldn't interest that many actually, thus why This Morning show them!
Challenge Ant was a great game, but you can't do a show like it without copying it. Look at Spelling Smackdown, tried to do it, but failed miserably.
cd:uk is good as it's a live music show with excellent guests and a production team like no other, ending it like that would be a rubbish idea.
Perhaps if they moved cd:uk, and extended anything to 12:30, it could include something, but I'd go more along the lines of L&K's Hit, Miss, or Maybe, it is a kids show after all!
Thus why I don't get the point about no cartoons!
IT'S CHILDREN'S ITV!!! IT'S FOR CHILDREN, though families can watch too!
Comical Sketches are what MoM are attempting at the moment. And decent competitions? Well they gave away holidays at the start of the run!
So the only thing that would work (along with sketches) is less scripting. But again, after last Saturday's show, the adlibbing between Michael and Stephen was great, even with Ray too and when the Doctor gets back it will be fantastic.
They're finally finding their feet and I hope it continues!
Good childrens programming is hard to find these days.
Until 1994 (when some new controller decided to axe the programme) there were programmes such as Knightmare, which I believe in the CiTV birthday bash was described as being a programme ahead of its time. Programmes such as that appeal to a fairly wide age range and were original. Incidentally a new version of the programme is in the pipeline.
What I personally disliked was the introduction of adverts in the middle of programmes. Whilst I understand that it raises money for ITV to an extent it limits what programmes they can show.
Why did MoM scrap that Mucha Lucha sketch? I just started to find it funny, they only did one since the re-launch. I hope the doctor and Miss Buthaven return this week!, its been a bit empty with out everyone in the Ministry the last few weeks! (Including the twins)
Interesting idea about them using GMTV's studio. Every other programme seems to. Though they'd have to have a simple set that could be put up within half an hour - an hour or so, and then taken down just as quick!
Watching CiTV yesturday, and it was nice to see a Live Swag again! Though it must have confused viewers as Swag and Laura are supposed to be at the My Parents Are Aliens set. Perhaps they could just had had a few bits of would, or stood behind the Central News set and say 'We've just come behind the set for a quick competition'.
But it was nice to have a little bit of live anyway!
They're also advertising next weeks My Parents Are Aliens as 4 classic episodes, but they've also got a new endboard on them.
It makes me wonder if they'll be changing presentation ways next week.
Perhaps they have a little set somewhere that they're going to have to use from next week so they may change the endboards.
