I remember at one point the Sunday sketches beginning with some getting out of bed scene. Being shortly after the Sunday morning CITV started presenting in vision. It was all good, though the studio was tiny whereas CBBC had a massive studio, and had done for about 4 years.

From what you said, I always ahted the out-of-vision format of CITV in the 90s. In fact, most people I know did- it even popped up on some TV based show CBBC were broadcasting around 1994. I was pleased when they re-instated in-vision in 1998 though from what I can remember, for the first few weeks Sundays were still just a voice over.

I remember it when Tommy Boyd used to do the IVC Links until 1993, then shocked one day that he had disappeared, I didn't mind the animations, but I preferred the IVC, though when CiTV came from the Carlton Basement in 1998 it felt like it was back to normal, even though both Stephen and Danielle acted like 12 year olds there was something nice about it, you had the old IVC back but it was more modern. I still have some CiTV continuity from Christmas Eve 1998, when it was on at 2pm, the closing link was just mental as Danielle was going AWOL because it was Christmas tomorrow.

The Sunday thing was dodgy at first as there was little IVC, and they were also happy to promote the fact that ".....is not on Scottish and Grampian" Though I've got a classic Sunday opener from 1998 when they set up this fake scene with all of the crew getting ready, Stephen saying to who is supposedly Danielle that they won't tell the difference, though you hear Danielle's voice saying Stephen, WE'RE ON AIR, so they all rush and Stephen says "Welcome to CiTV...." and you see Danielle who turns around to reveal herself, but it is a guy in a wig. Though I don't have the next bit on tape, I think the excuse was that she was late for work. Rolling Eyes

Though I don't really like it at the minute, some days there is IVC, some there isn't, sometimes it f*cks up etc. It was better when it was Michael and Leah, Leah got a tad annoying but they were good at it.

Back in the days.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the Voice overs out of vision CiTV. It just lacked a personality that had always been present through (for me) Tommy Boyd and Glen (in the summer).

I quite liked that little basement studio, it was nice and cosy. they couldn't do anything in it, but it was nice, most probably why the bands always performed on the then Central News set (minus the desk), but since CiTV moved into there in 2000, I can only ever remember one person performing.

Danielle was great, as she was loud and bubbly, and her & Stephen complimented each other well.
Wasn't Christmas Eve when they had that Brass Band playing christmas songs?
That was fun, I miss that fun live element of CiTV. Recorded pres and Voice Overs don't do it for me, and i'm sure it doesn't work for children.

It seems to have fallen, CiTV that is after being so strong. They worked up by bringing back Live Pres, then Post comps, phones comps, emails, websites and then to be the first childrens programme (and one of the first in Britain) to start the TEXT in phenomenon where viewers can text in comments, etc, that became so popular. And then they shortened links, got rid of items, changed sets, presenters left, rubbish ones came in, then less links, rec pres, voice overs, and then who knows what.

The shell of the set before was good enough for anything, they shouldn't have guted it out. Perhaps what they should've done is had a blue lit back cloth, and created yellow oval arches leading into the big screen, therefore resembling the catwalk style ITV1 set of idents from last september.
They should've kept the bouncing letters, perhaps with them becoming flat (with hard edges) rather than round, and then forming the revised logo from sept last year. Then use the letters as parts of the set, the C becoming a sofa, the i made of screens for information, the T for (i don't know yet, perhaps for putting comp prizes into), and the V could've been a desk. That could've enabled a more lively based programme, with more interactivity, and perhaps some live artists.
Perhaps what they should've done is have had the presenters joining Michael & Leah from Octoberish before them pair left instead of a straight switchover.

With CiTV's old studio now becoming two for Central News West and East, i'm not sure CiTV have anywhere to go, unless they're gonna go back to the old room where the central news virtual items come from, or how about hiring out a shop in a shopping centre, maybe the bullring if they're lucky and using that, or maybe they won't bother at all.

Talking about Peter Cocks, he's good as the doctor and good as Dad in Globo Loco, but as Roland Butter it all just seems a bit too far as the character is just so bad its bad.
Also is it in his contract that he must appear in every programme made by The Foundation!

Even if he doesn't appear, he seems to be behind the scenes. He's a writer for Basil Brush.

I cannot believe that no one has commented on today's MOM.

I thought it was quiet good today. I liked the way they used Ray to explain where the Doctor has gone, there deffinatly using him more. I really ddo not like 'mucha Lucha' so I switch to TSS when its on.
I think the age range that MIOM was originally for has gone out of the window, i mean, they have BB contestants in the studio, how many 6-10yr olds would watch BB?
Anyway, Sabrina was as good as ever, they cut the end scene off though! Evil or Very Mad

I would give todays MOM: 6/10

Thanx,

LoveTV

C ya in a week! Very Happy

I thought it was quite poor, firstly because there was no doctor and secondly because I didn't like the way those Big Brother 'stars' dominated every item.
I kept turning over to The Saturday Show, what with it being on half an hour later

I quite liked todays show. The bit where they pick on the audience was good, the girl who Holly picked on this week was really embarrised, she didnt even look at Holly once while she was talking to her!.

They seemed to have sound difficulties at the beginning when Michael introduced cakey skate and at the end when they get the gunge tank out.

Anyone else notice the re-vamp of the Buthaven set this week?

Also I noticed they scrapped the canned kids cheering sound effect this week aswell! There was no need for it as you could tell last week the kids were just dancing to the theme at the beginning and the end!

and Love TV!!: They're about 5 episodes away from the end of the final series of Sabrina!

I was channel hopping more today (due to the olympics) and one thing I noticed was that The Mysti Show (bar the acted sengments) seemed to be goign out non-filmic, where when I've seen it before, it was all filmic. It was a great improvement- how long has this been the case?

I think someone from MoM reads this thread.

I see that since my post a few weeks ago the crew no longer wear shirts that say crew in big white letters. At least now they don't stand out a mile (apart from being amongst lots of children).

Did Ray genuinely screw up the joke with Michael or was it all er scripted.

In my opinion before the last relaunch of The Saturday show they had a strong format which they completely lost in their latest revamp. However MoM started off poor and has improved since the start hence they are beating the BBC in the ratings. Still the big test will come when Dick and Dom returns to BBC1 as they have a strongish format.

Not suprised TOTPS has fallen flat. That show has got progressivly worse since it became seperates from TSS. Partly because of the annoyingly presented features and especially that vile slow shutter effect (I call it that rather than filmic because of the way movment blurs- it looks terrible, worse than standard filmic) they use on all the performances. I'll ask again- why? The main TOTP doesn't do it, it just looks terrible.
