I think Cat 's cd:uk will be axed eventually. soon.
The ratings have plunged to an all time low and have for the past few months.
Just 517,420 watched yesterday
If cd:uk goes, MOM should go too! it's ratings for Saturday just gone were only 486,520 thousand!!
You've all got to remember that the last SM:tv got 1.2 million with cd:uk getting 1.5 straight after - its obviously cd:uk's rubbish lead-in MOM that's doing the damage!
I taped the last SM:TV, I'll make you a copy if you like, but you'll have to wait a couple of weeks as I need to buy some new blank tapes. Just PM me your address.
On a related note- fanoftv- I wish you'd reply to me on at least one of the messages I'd sent to you regarding old SM:TVs. if there's a reason you can't get them to me, that's fine, but I'd at least like to know! You just seem to be ignoring my messages (or at least you haven't noticed them ).
I like the nice stating-the-obvious black CREW t-shirts that constantly kept getting seen in the closing part of MoM.
Prehaps they should use the old 'Ministry' style backdrop to replace the black?
I stated that in an earlier post. It would make sense as it would look as though the new set is actually in the ministry still rather than just a studio. They only need the left wall and half of the back as that tunnel thing then takes up half the studio, and the doctors lab is on the right hand side. It would definately improve the new set.
I don't like the new stage either, it may be good for bands like busted, but when it comes to pop groups (the majority of artists that will feature on MoM), they have to remove the stage as they did for jennifer ellison's performance last saturday which meant that she was dancing on the studio floor, very strange.
I still don't like those new little sofa things, they look so uncomfortable and look weedy in comparison to the old big moving thing, and if it's due to lack of space, why on earth did they put that big walkway thing in? What's it's purpose bar for guests to come through? they should have just kept the shell to the old studio and add all of the metallic to that, i don't see the reason for wasting money, especially in the middle of july, when viewers will be lower.
As I've said before they should've given the presenters a few weeks off each and then have had a big relaunch with ads advertising it rather than just springing it on people and hoping that word of mouth word spread (hard to do when children aren't at school, so you don't get the playground "did you see..." gossip).

I know. I bought some blank tapes yesterday, i'll hope to get it out to you in the next couple of weeks (not sure when I'll have time to do it). It actually makes me feel sad watching it- and I still want to know why they removed the Eminemmerdale sketch at the last minute and replaced it with SpongeBob (the show was pre-recorded, so Brian mentioning it still appears- though mentions have been cut from the rundown. The fact that SpongeBob comes on straight from the ad break- no link at all- gives away that it was quickly put there).

Yes, I'dve thought they would have done a better job promoting the relaunch rather than it just appearing out of nowhere. I'm still not sure which verson was better, maybe they should mix bits from both versions together. Still I like ButtHavens- at least they have a proper regular sketch now. And I've been to butlins a million times as well (well not a million times, but I've been every year since 1992- except 1998).
It's a shame that the characters (bar the doctor) are seen less and less now, and Tina & Gina seem to have been dispensed with completly (though always felt they could have done more with them)! Shame as I really like Ray.

I agree with you there, that's what I liked when it first started the use of characters as though it is a monistry of mayhem, rather than SM:tv to more of less what it's become. The only mayhem is the gunging at the end.
If only I could get my hands on that show!
Oh well, I'll just have to do the next!
There could have been many ways for them to go with characters, have a dodgy dealing cockney market trader to give away the prizes (a bit like was it Baz & Baz that Andi Peters and that lad did on L&K years ago!?), mad tea ladies just like on WOW!, some puppets may have worked, maybe even those I'm a celebrity koalas that did appear for a couple of weeks.
The twins could have been used as receptionists, or just kept as telephone operators yet do sketches and pop up now and then. They could have had a great spot on the new set, either under that new square tower, or have a balconey on top of the tunnel thing where the door would go up infront of them when it was lifted, and that way they were overlooking the studio.
Even though they're still there the agents aren't used that much either! And as you pointed out James Ray is used less and less each week, why can't they be different instead of always returning to old formulas. There's nothing wrong with integrating them, but always returning to old ways.
As I've said before though, it's because of too many in charge, rather than the one there are loads.
Butthaven is turning into the Chums style sketch now, they are going off script more which makes it better.
Sure they are using a few euthamisms in the script (mainly the 'doctor').
Liked the doctor playing the drums with those strange glasses, him and Ray do make the show. Noticed he had disappear at the end - and didn't play the drums to end.
Hmm very long break that Tina and Gina are taking,,,
Buthaven needs opening titles like chums did and have then a re-cap of the last episode. Noticed they took my advice and filmed Buthaven in Non-letter box mode this week which was good!
