Yes it's a bad time of the year for ratings! But they should never have axed smtv and eventually I think cduk will go the same way. Sad Sorry to have such a pessimistic outlook!

I think the axing of SM:tv has never helped CD:UK, but it must be stressed that CD:UK is a changed programme from the Ant and Dec days, when it was saw as an add on from SM:tv, but now it is a serious music show, some may say better than TOTP.

I think they should move it out of the 11.30am slot, maybe 5.30pm would be more appropriate, even late at night would work IMO.

I still take it that MOM still promotes (I haven't seen it in ages!) CD:UK, though it isn't part of CiTV, it's a normal ITV1programme that really isn't aimed for kids.

I personally liked CD:UK in its early days.Even though it was an add-on to SM:TV, it was still serious. I still think the old CD:UK was better than it is now, especially as it was much more chart based, these days it's nearly all pre-releases.

Followed by Stephen's 'That's hilarious he didn't do that in rehersals' laugh and then his 'One of these days we are going to get told off, lets move on quickly nobody noticed' facial expression

As you may have seen Michael announced that in a few months time the MoM theme is to be released as a proper single, with some new band singing it.

No doubt it'll be the full version with verses not heard since about show 3.

I think Peter Cocks improvises a lot of what he does as the Doctor, I think he's really funny. What's funnier is his German doing a Cockney accent in Butthavens. I'm not totally sure how he pulled that off, it seems a fairly tricky thing to do. But he does do a good Cockey accent seeing him palying Dad in Globo Loco and that bloke on the Ribena ads.

To be honest, It was like a a breath of fresh air , when CD:UK came along, I was getting very bored with the ITV Chart Show.

Even though CD UK has dropped in ratings, its much better then TOTP.

I used to love The ITV Chart Show, but many people were very annoyed when they dropped in favour of CD:UK, probably because they were used to videos only. But as time has progressed CD:UK has made a mark on TV and has managed to get some great acts on the show, it is developed more since Ant and Dec left, so it has become more of Cat's show really, but I agree at the moment it is better than TOTP. Another good thing about CD:UK is that it is not aimed for kids, where as TOTP Saturday is, plus there's also CD:UK Hotshots hidden away at 1am, though it would be better if they had that on ITV2 or something.

Though due to work I haven't seen a full edition of CD:UK since March now, but I presume that little has changed.

I used to love the chart show as well, for the presentation just as well as the videos. I was really upset when it was cancelled and for a brief while I was annoyyed with CD:UK, but I did like CD:UK anyway (I always thought it was better when it was closely tied with SM:TV, something which phased out afterthe firstyear and pretty much vanished after Ant, Dec & Cat left).

With The Chart Show, Channel 4 actually did run 30 minute Chart Show blocks in January 2003 in the mornings, sadly they stopped after a copule of weeks. I thought it could have worked well, especially if they did put it in their current Morning slot. Afte rall, since The Chart Show ended, there hasn't been any real showcase on terrestrial for music videos (and where they are shown, they're cropped to 16:9).

AFAIK this was agreed between C4 and Chart Show TV who AIUI may have been involved in the production of the original Chart Show.

Also, apologies if this has been posted before, but there are schedule changes this week on CITV: magazines have The Worst Witch at 1625; in the EPG it states that there are two (rather than one) episodes of Potatoes & Dragons each day, with Art Attack/Lets Roll/Globo Loco/How 2 etc later than billed and Brilliant Creatures (m, W & F) or Finger Tips (Tue & Thu) at 1640. Anyone ideas why this is? I don't mind 'cos I can't stand TWW...

I noticed the CiTV changes also (especially as Kevin on Puffin's Place mentioned the Worst Witch, and also made a point of CiTV having a new show in the form of Potato's and Dragons), I thought the idea was that they were going to show every episode of the worst witch, just like they did with My Parents Are Aliens.

Perhaps the ratings aren't as good as they thought (they surely haven't run them all already, have they?), which is a shame if it is the reason, as they are inproduction with a new version of the worst witch.

This weeks MoM was again ok, still unsure about the new set, the old one did look bigger, and i'm still not keen on them getting rid of the titles. Buthaven was ok, and the show was made for me by the Doctor (as always), and Ruth Madoc getting gunged!

They relaunched (as it were, still don't understand why in July Confused ), but the only real thing that they've added is buthaven. A few new games wouldn't be bad. Though I did like the sketch with Holly, Jennifer Ellison and the ballet bar. It could be a really good formula if they kept adding new ideas, but that's all down to the management, and it's a big enough team, some may say too big!

I like Buthaven, though Miss Buthaven's character is like Mrs Bucket's chatacter in in KUA (Keeping Up Appearences) where she corrects people when they call her "Bucket"!. I just wish MoM wouldnt film Buthaven in letterbox mode, its really annoying to watch it in!.

I like the nice stating-the-obvious black CREW t-shirts that constantly kept getting seen in the closing part of MoM. Laughing

Prehaps they should use the old 'Ministry' style backdrop to replace the black?
